Emory Accelerated BSN/MSN Program (Summer 2010) - Anyone Else Accepted?

Published

Hi - I was recently accepted to Emory's Accelerated BSN/MSN Program for Summer 2010. Has anyone else been accepted?

Yay! Did you guys get the email from Katie Kennedy about the open house thing on Feb. 16th? I am excited to meet everyone.

Yeah, I am going to the open house too. I can't wait to meet everyone and find out more about getting ready for the program!

I actually went to the open house that was back in October. I was really great, I learned so much about the program and school. I went to other school's open houses, and Emory's by far was the best.

I applied for the Fuld Fellowship, so I'm gonna see what they tell me about that. I know its probably a long shot. But, I'm planning on going to Emory even if I have to take out crazy loans. It seems they offer most everyone some money... I'm living in Kennesaw right now, I wonder if that commute is going to be too tough every day...

My parents live in Stone Mountain and commute to CDC everyday, however I don't really want to do that. The program is probably already going to be very stressful, I don't think I could handle traffic! I'd really like to be as close to the school as possible.

Are we supposed to fill out both FAFSAs for 2008 and 2009 since we are starting school in May? Applying for financial aid is almost as stressful as applications!

When I went to the info session in October we were told to fill both out.

Okay that's what I assumed too.

mdaniellek - were there any tidbits of info given at the info session that you care to share?:D I'm really excited about starting. I'll be at the Open House as well. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hey all! I got into the program as well. Congrats to you all! I will be going to the open house as well. Can't wait to meet you all. Does anybody know a good place to look for an apartment?

Congrats ea102!! What is your specialty? I live in Kennesaw and my lease isn't up until July, so I know I'll be commuting at least until then...

Mal09- I got into the Family-Nurse midwifery program as well! I believe I saw that you got into that program as well. I've been looking at craigslist at different apartments, but I wanted to know which neighborhoods are safer, better, closer to campus etc.

ea102-

Hey! I'm looking for an apartment too, and I think I found a good search website.

Taking the apartment complex info there and reading the google online review is helpful in weeding out the ones that are worth looking at. Emory also has a site for off campus housing, and I think the small houses around Emory are relatively safe.

https://housing.emory.edu/off-campus/home.cfm

For Atlanta the neighborhood that Emory in is overall is one of the safer places. Other than break ins that target exmemberive electronics, most of the stuff that happens on college campuses (GT, GSU, and Emory) are somewhat preventable (i.e. don't walk home alone while intoxicated after dark, don't invite strangers into your house) unless you live a neighborhood that obviously isn't a safe place to live. ex: Homepark near GT has a robbery/hold up/car break-in about every two weeks plus it looks like the houses would have health hazards. A lot of the student targeted apartment complexes get reviews as large party scenes, which wouldn't be conducive to nursing school.

Sorry I don't have any specific areas. Hopefully someone with a more detailed knowledge about the Emory area specifically will give some advise.
