So I decided to start a thread for the Fall 2018. Any current/prospective student on here? What GPA did you have when you applied and how competitive is the selection process? If you don't mind sharing your work experience and GRE score, that will be awesome. For those who are enrolled, do you mind sharing your experience?
Hi everyone! I am so glad I came across this thread. I just got accepted as well into the WHNP + FNP dual specialty. I genuinely thought I had no chance of getting in, so I applied for some Accelerated BSN programs beginning in spring 2018. Now I am totally conflicted!!! Going to Emory would be a dream but I also live in NJ so it's a huge change. Any thoughts on accelerated BSN then taking a few years to work and then going for NP vs doing this direct program? All thoughts/ideas welcome!!!

Hi @raeli, you might need to contact the school and find out about the dual Midwifery/FNP program. It was discontinued this year and a few of us have had to select only one specialty a few weeks ago through the portal. Basically, the midwifery program is standalone going forward and can't be combined with any other specialty. We talked about it in some of the older posts if you want to go back and take a look.
**Update - Oopps just re-read your post and realized that you are doing WHNP and FNP. I thought they discontinued that as well but it looks like I need to recheck the website. Ignore me!

Considering how much more you'd be making as an NP vs. nurse, and the fact that you'd be in school for fewer years with Emory's program, I would think it would be better to just go forward with the accelerated program now! And Atlanta is such a big city that I wouldn't think it would be too different from NJ. However, if you want to specialize (more than primary care), e.g., Cardio or Ortho, I've heard it can be better for future job prospects to get some RN experience in that specialty first and then go back for your masters. Either way I think you'll be happy - congrats!!
But again, congratulations to everyone who has gotten in! Be proud of your accomplishments, you all have deserved it! For everyone who is reading this, who got waitlisted and rejected (just like me), know that you guys are still valuable, and you still can achieve your dreams and goals. Do not let this discourage you from your potential as a nurse. Sending you all strength and love.
Hello everyone,
I was accepted to the ABSN+MSN program but I do not see my specialty. When I applied I marked the WHNP+CNM option. There is no option specified on my letter. When browsing the website I can not find this option. The drop down for the applications says Summer 2018 ABSN+MSN, all program options. What does this mean!?!? I'm sooo confused. Please help.
thank you!

Hi @pomegranite, contact the school. You most likely will have to fill out a new form to select only a single specialty. That is what we had to do a few weeks back for those of us that selected the dual specialty that is combined with midwifery.
thxwy
