Hi all,
Just wondering what everyone's hospitals are doing for them for ER Nurses Week... tonight we're having a dinner and I can't wait, cuz supposedly there's some really good food! Hope everyone gets to do at least a little something at their facility!

Our hospital went all out (1000 bed hospital, 76 ER beds)....we got a giant cookie anonymously left on the breakroom table. Whoooohoooo, it can't possibly get any better than that! Well, it did say Happy ER nurses week on it.

Well....my one job gave me a great coffee mug with some candy and a very well thought out thank you card.
My other job gave me a bag, a T-shirt and a generic card that EVERYONE got...the only diff was our names on the outside of the envelope.

They have done something everyday this week. The days I worked we had cookies on Monday. Yesterday we had pizza, and today we had the Olive Garden catered lunch. Plus they handed out little gitft goody bags with candy and a flashlight. The ER docs bought two bouqets of flowers also.

Nothing at my facility! I left a level 1 trauma center that always celebrated its ER nurses, nothing here at small community hospital.

Our facility has done something every day but I'm not sure what it was every day because I have only been two days. I know on Monday they (being unit mgr and asst unit mgrs) transported all of our admitted patients to the floors (which we have no transport, especially no tele transport so it is such a pain in the butt)... I know on Thursday/Friday we have a retro nursing uniform contest... winner gets $200 visa gift card, and other prizes available like $100 gift cards... they had a huge cake, snacks and ordered from a deli for everyone... I'm not sure what else was going on because I wasn't there the rest of this week... We were all content with transporting tele patients!!!

We didn't even realise it was ER Nurse's week until a drug rep brought us lunch on friday!

Our management got us a T-shirt with or new ER motto "Sharing the Sacred Gifts of Our Hearts"
The ER docs bought pizza for day shift on Tuesday, night shift on Thursday.
The Levaquin lady (love her!) brought in a hot breakfast Wednesday morning at 0600 that the day and night shift got to enjoy.
Last year we got some pretty nice work bags. At least it wasn't the junk the hospital gave us for nurses week (a popcorn bowl and plastic license plate thingy)

IF my hospital did anything, I must have missed it. Or maybe it was just recognition for day shift nurses?? I know those of us at night who bust serious butt got nothing whatsoever. Not even a thank-you. ENA sent me a nice note though.

Catered breakfast, lunch and dinner on two separate days. A wine cooler snuggie carrier for a BYOB restaurant, with corkscrew and goodies inside.
Last year ER director chair, coffee mug and coffee certificate.

We had a "celebration"... It was mandatory. It was a 5 hour long meeting about what we need to do better in our ED. Not really a celebration. (But they did say "happy ER nurses week")
