Published

I know its super duper early.. I'm still in the process of taking my pre reqs.. I still need biol 1406 & bio 2401 I made a B in engl 1301 & A in psyc 2301.. I plan on taking bio 1406 in fall & bio 2401 in winter semester. Im taking as many supporting classes as I can to rack up on the extra points. I currently attend collin but they have so many more requirements than el centro so in the event i do not get accepted into elcentro the following semester I will apply at collin.. I still need Hesi & all my shots along with cpr.. anyone in the same situation? Or just getting the process started?? I figured I'd start a thread to help us all get over this together.. feel free to comment advice, concerns or questions :)

I agree I knew about a nursing school that was on probation and they kept the students that were already in the program they just didn't accept any more students until the program was off probation. But with that being said they usually fire all the staff and start from scratch.

I'm not sure. I would say just to call them before they mail them and make sure they have the right address

That's good. Yeah it doesn't make sense they would just drop us. Yep I'm just gonna follow through with the program and work really hard to make sure I know everything I need to know. Study groups would be great help

Yes that is all we can do. Just stick together and stay positive and form genuine study groups with people that are serious.

I love how positive everyone on this thread is. Its so wonderful! The network of support is great. I am completely all for study groups.

I agree, Sid2009. I would hate for the staff to lose their jobs but I also know I need this to work out. I am ready to go into this new field and I do not want to take extra time looking into other options.

I currently work in the mortgage industry. I am trying to find a health care position but they are overlooking me due to lack of previous healthcare experience. Is anyone else having luck finding positions in the industry?

I use to work as a CNA and let me tell you. Your best bet is to wait until you are able to get an internship because CNA work is hard and you will be burned out. I would get a desk job or work at starbucks because we need to study not stress.

I did eastfields phlebotomy program years ago and never could find a job. Then I was an office manager at a dental office for a few years. The office shut down when I was pregnant with my daughter. I tried to find other dental management jobs but couldn't find one. Pretty sure because I was pregnant. No one is gonna hire a pregnant lady lol. Then I decided to just be a stay at home mom while going to school full time and get into nursing school. My husband works and I'm blessed to be able to just focus on school and our daughter.

Ok y'all super cool thing I just discovered lol. I got an email from usps about a new service they offer called informed delivery. It sends you an email to see what your getting in the mail everyday. This is helpful for us cause we will get an email knowing what day we are getting our letters. So instead of stalking the mail lady and checking the mail and not getting a yet we will know what day it's on the way. Just go to usps.com make an account and enroll in informed delivery

That's great! My friend would try to go to school but every time she looked up she would be pregnant. lol I do understand the struggle. If you need a job just look for something less stressful. Cause these jobs are not our dreams jobs. I hate the job that I have now but It pays the bills and I know it won't last forever.

Here is an update! I found a link. The nurse that I spoke with told me that you can actually go online and see what schools are on probation. El centro is on Warning. https://www.bon.texas.gov/pdfs/education_pdfs/education_programs/ApprovedRNschools.pdf

So I looked at that and also found more on website. So in 2016 the pass rate was 70%. It has to be 80. So they did a survey to see why el centro isn't doing well and board of nursing and el centro come up with a plan to raise scores.

This is rules for warning

  • The approval status will be moved from full to full with warning if the program is not in compliance with Board rules or if theprogram experiences a lower than 80% NCLEX examination pass rate for two consecutive years.

  • The approval status may be moved to conditional if the program has serious compliance issues or if the program experiences athird year with a lower than 80% NCLEX pass rate.

So if they don't get better the term conditional status makes me believe that it will still allow students already in program to complete.
And 70 isn't too far from 80. Surely they can raise it by 10 in a year and a half

This is what they are doing to raise score.

  • ï‚· The Program Director and faculty members identified factors in the SSR that may havecontributed to the decline in the pass rate and designed the following corrective measures:

    •  Increase admission standards to raise HESI A2 score from 70 to 80;

    •  Provide further development to faculty to improve instruction techniques inteaching the Texas Concept-Based Curriculum including the strategy for flipping
      the classroom”; and

    •  Decrease or eliminate graded class activities thereby decreasing grade inflation.

Funny this is why why they changed the minimum HESI score

here is the letters to and from el centro about the plan to get off warning

All great information!

I currently am a single mom so... I work full-time already in a stressful environment. I can't go to a less stressful job because 'less stress = less pay". Lol. I am in need of a night position so I can carry a full-time job while in the program. So I have to find something else.

I just setup the USPS account.
