I know its super duper early.. I'm still in the process of taking my pre reqs.. I still need biol 1406 & bio 2401 I made a B in engl 1301 & A in psyc 2301.. I plan on taking bio 1406 in fall & bio 2401 in winter semester. Im taking as many supporting classes as I can to rack up on the extra points. I currently attend collin but they have so many more requirements than el centro so in the event i do not get accepted into elcentro the following semester I will apply at collin.. I still need Hesi & all my shots along with cpr.. anyone in the same situation? Or just getting the process started?? I figured I'd start a thread to help us all get over this together.. feel free to comment advice, concerns or questions :)
Hello,
I'm currently in the 4th semester of the ADN program. The school is on probation due to their NCLEX score being in the 70%. She mentioned that the school has to bring that up within 1.5 years. Now to bring up the score the professors do not teach, instead they do case studies. The problem with the program is not organization, rather it's the policies changing from semester to semester. If we fourth semester fail the EXIT HESI after the second attempt, we will be placed in transition which is first and second semester combined, then have to redo a semester of 3rd and another semester of 4th. Just think is that the kind of program you want to enter? Also, our lecture in third semester was so bad we all signed a petition and gave it to the dean, rather than her dealing with our lecture instructor, she assigned another professor to tutor the whole class on a separate weekday! Goodluck!!!!
Hello All! I am new to this but I have been reading along for the past 2 months on this conversation. I applied to El Centro Fall 2017 and I am about to die waiting on the letters to be received. But now reading that they are on probation is worrying me. Should I be cautious and apply to Brookhaven or any other programs? I was trying to go through El Centro so I could get right into a job while completing my BSN at UTA. What are you ladies thinking?
Hey. Your stats look great. From what I've gathered they have a year and a half to raise scores. El centro is a very popular nursing program In Dallas. Surely they are not going to let this happen and will straighten up. Also I haven't checked but might be too late now to apply for a different program for fall. We can always ask at orientation about the situation. Another thought is in a year and a half we will be almost one semester away from graduating. Surely they won't just dump us. They will probably allow the students already in program to complete it and just not take any new applicants for future semesters. That's just how I think it could work.
I really think that's how it would play out. Honestly I don't think they will get suspended, el centro is one of the most major nursing programs in all dfw. Surely they will get their **** together at some point. And worse comes to worse if we are done with third semester with just one to go they aren't just gonna be like oh you can't finish your last semester and dump us out the program. It really sounds like they would be able to complete the program for all students in program and just not do any new applications after that point
I hope that is how it plays out. I previously worked for ATI which is a trade school. I quit because I could see there were some sketchy practices going on. Maybe 2 years after I quit, they lost their accreditation and the student who had attended the college lost their certification since the college could not back them without their accreditation. So I automatically assumed the worst in this situation from that knowledge. I pray this is different since it is an actual college and not a trade program/ school.
I totally understand. I'm not too too worried about it. Just trying to stay positive. Another thing they could do would be just to transfer all the people currently in the program to brookhavens program. I just really think it would be more ok your nursing school is suspended no more future enrollment not ok your nursing school is suspended you have to kick everyone out. Especially from board of nursing giving them the suspension they're not gonna do it that way
