i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.
my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)
Does your average have any impact on the final HESI or vice versa?
Instead of a final test we take hesi that covers all 2 years of lectures. The "good" thing is that hesi has the same weight as each unit test. So you can get a low score on hesi and still graduate if your average is 78%. If I pull my average up now then I don't have to worry about hesi later. Well, I still want to get a nice score on hesi, though. Katie
Good luck, Katie! :)
Well, I came seconds from having to perform CPR on a man in the lobby of the hospital. I walked in for clinical a little early, and I heard, "Someone call someone."
I realized I was the only one in scrubs in the whole lobby!!
I asked what happened, and assessed him. He was unresponsive, not breathing, and had no pulse. I was just about to start CPR when a Dr ran up and asked if he had a pulse.
I told him no. The Dr did a double check to make sure he didn't detect a pulse for about a second or two, and immediately started CPR. Then later, he started vomitting, and I had to help them turn the pt to his side.
....They also had to use my scissors to cut open the AED pad package.
I feel bad for that man (I don't know what his outcome was), but I'm proud of myself for knowing what to do, and not being too nervous to do it! I always wondered if I would know what to do if I ever was in that situation.
