i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.

my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)

What did you find overwhelming? Our orientation is on 27th at ECC. I know that our psych clinical will be 4 days only.

Everything! I've never had so many things to do simultaneously in nursing school. Between Lecture, management, and my preceptor, I feel like I won't have anytime to study. I guess I'll just have to buckle down with my time. So many people in my class took an educational leave of absence because there will not be anytime to work! I think that the whole preceptorship thing is what gets me the most... Luckily I got my first choice!;)

I will also be at the Psych Orientation at ECC on 8/27. I know for THR, we will be getting a couple of live lectures for psych!

For 3rd semester, did y'all print the notes, and lecture guides for the lecture?

I didn't fill out the lecture guides. I didn't even print all the lecture notes. But I spent time watching/listening to her old recordings of 3rd semester lectures. And I read both Iggy and Lewis texts, too. MedsPub is mandatory. ;)

Oh, and I am back from my annual DC/Baltimore trip. Inner Harbour and National Mall are still there, but it's much colder there than here. Good to be back. :)

Did the old lecture videos pretty much follow her lecture?

I'm watching one now, and I was just wondering. I'm filling out the Lecture Guide as I go. I figure, since it's the same as the notes, I will just fill in the blanks, add side notes, and then add whatever extra info she adds, if any, during the actual lecture.

There are some differences. For example, MI and EKG are 4th semester now. Otherwise the lectures are mostly the same.

That's fine.....It's only good review anyway.

I used to do EKG's all the time... I came across a EKG lead placement pic, and I actually remembered where to put the leads.

.....Now....how to run the updated machines may stump me. LOL!!!!! I think I learned on an outdated machine when I learned back in '93 or so! :D

Does anyone know where they will Intern? I am applying everywhere I possibly can although I'd like to stay at Methodist. They're building a Methodist Hospital just 2 miles from where we're building our house right now!!!! That's a major reason why I'd like to stay ;) Transfer!

Where are your clinicals now, and who is your teacher, that sure does sound like heaven. Does every fourth semester teacher do that, or just yours?

And where is Methodist building a new hospital?

She came to our orientation/lecture Wednesday...for about 20 minutes or so to let us know what to expect, and when/where to meet at St. Paul for clinical orientation. She seems like a nice lady. I hope she really is! ha

I think it will be a good semester...hopefully I learn a bunch with her. :)

Yes, I am hoping it will be! We just show up on the floor and begin our "shift". Our teacher doesn't believe in careplans!!! Heck yeah!!!! Neither do I!!!! hahaha.

After all the changes they did to our group I am ready for everything. If they tell me tomorrow that I have to go to Waxahachie for clinical and Oklahoma exit 1 for management class I won't be surprised. :devil:
