El Centro / NLC Fall 2019

Published

Hello,

I wanted to start a thread to see if anyone is applying for the Fall 2019 program at El Centro (hoping to get into the North Lake program). I'm getting ready to send my application and await the process. Just didn't see a thread yet and wanted to connect with my hopeful future Colleagues. I've read the Spring 2019 thread and it was exciting to see everyone come together during this process to share in this fantastic journey! I'm hoping to connect with anyone going through this experience with and hopefully also be in the program with me.

Hey All,

Im also applying to El Centro’s Northlake 2019 semester, hopefully... My only issue is, I was confused on how to send in immunizations. I see that I need to go through Sentry MD. Does anyone know how long it took Sentry MD to process your records? I’m also applying to MVC! I hope to get into either one:)

We actually go through Castle Branch now. The PDF I added to this thread is the most updated ADN packet. Part E in the PDF has a link where you can go to select the Castle Branch Fall Compliance Tracker package.

When I sent my immunizations in, some were completed the same day and it took no longer than 4 days for me to be completely compliant in their system.

Thanks! That’s good to know! I am definitely stressed because I didn’t realize how much I need to get done in such little time. I still need to update my CPR certification! One last question. How did you submit your immunizations into Castle Branch? Did you scan them in? I’m from California and I have access to all my immunizations through my hospitals’website, just not sure how to send them in. Thank you for your help:D

It seems like a lot but if you have them all on hand like that it should be a breeze. So for Castle Branch - you select the package and then register (Fall ADN Northlake) and pay $25 for access. Then yes, I just scanned my immunizations in after I went to my PCP to get them. There is a button for you to upload each requirement (so save them all to your computer at 1 time then upload 1 by 1) If for some reason Castle Branch doesn't accept it, it will say "Denied" next to it and it will also have feedback for why it was denied by the Castle Branch staff. No problem!

Hey Bombaytweet - El Centro is using CastleBranch now for the immunization records. Be sure to follow the El Centro Nursing packet for directions. My TAT time 24 - 48 hours to get notices on what I needed to update. They were very responsive to everything. We have the holiday coming up so get your immunization record sent to Castlebranch so you have some time to repeat some items if needed before the deadline. Let me know if you need anything.

On Wednesdays I have lecture classes from 7:30am-3p, Thursday I have my skills lab time is TBA so not sure how long I will be on campus, and Friday is my Clinical day 6:30am-5pm. Yes I will be working part-time but 30hrs/wk so I can keep my health insurance since it's required for the program.

Thank you so much!

So you'll only have Clinical days 6x during the semester or is it every Friday? I can't thank you enough for all of your help and advice! Are you at the NLC campus or El Centro? What shoes did you get for the program? I was hoping the new waterproof Healthcare Skechers would work but will need to wait until I actually get into a program to see what's needed. I'm so excited for you! I watched my mom work full time as an LVN while going for her RN as a single mom and she did it, making all A's...maybe a couple B's. So my mom, cousins, and aunts are all nurses. It's in my blood but I'm going about it differently since I got my Associates and Bachelors in business and work in Mortgage and love my company. Something is just calling me to Nursing.

Thanks you very much . 9/10 I’m going to need assistance again. This is my first time applying and to say that it’s overwhelming is an understatement. So thankful to you guys for being so nice and helpful!

Right - we only have 6 clinicals (at least in the first semester) I'm not sure about other semesters. No problem! I am at the El Centro campus. I bought classic black leather Reeboks. Dean Becker specifically said no mesh and all leather - and no slip-ons. Hope that helps! Well good luck to you! Y'all keep this forum updated once y'all start getting acceptance letters!

This was updated Dec 17, 2018 and pages 5 and 8-10 detail how the points are awarded. Best of luck to you all!

How many points did you have when you got accepted if you dont mind me asking? I'm applying at North Lake for fall 19! I'm super nervous and the process hasn't even started!!

Hello!! I'm applying to Northlake for fall 19! I've taken the hesi and with everything I have 27 points I'm not sure if that's good enough but I'm hoping it is!

Hi Shandricka! 27 points is kind of on the low end. Not saying 27 won't get you in, however, because slots open up when people drop out. Are you able to retake your HESI?

I'm able to retake it but have not taken it yet I'm also applying at grayson and tvcc. I know that with elcentro i may be waitlisted so if its meant hopefully they will call me for a spot??
