Hi everyone!I
I wanted to make a group for all the people applying for the Spring 2020 program. Has anyone taken the HESI yet? If so, are there better tools than the book?

When you are logged into the test on the computer, you get a menu with all subjects. That is where you select what tests you're taking. It will have all the sections you need to take for the application and others you don't need like physics, biology etc.
@babysplash Are you already at el centro? If so do you know anything about the books that we will be using? The price for the books is super expensive 3K and I’m trying to save some money where I can.

Yes I am a student in the El Centro Nursing program. Yes that sounds about right, I think current freshman class paid about $2,500 for the books. It is 8 books you use throughout the 4 semesters you pay for upfront. Did you have a specific questions about the books? You have to purchase the package through Lippincott - the book company - all books are online. We have assignments like quizzes, case studies, documentation and virtual simulations through the online portal that the professors check and grade through there as well.

??? 2.5k?? Holy smokes
Ah, gotcha. I thought perhaps I could buy some used books but since they’re all online then that won’t work. Any tips on what to buy used or for cheap? I would definitely appreciate it. I’m currently trying to grasp dosage calculations prior to starting the program. Any other tips that might help me?
@Colleeng16 yeah, that’s a lot! In the information packet it says 3,000. So I’m trying to save where I can to pay for the books.

Yeah idk what happened, my first semester the book package was a little over $2,000. Then the skills kit is all the supplies you need like needles, saline bags, sterlie water, syringes, foley cath kits, trach kits, etc. is apparently close to $350. We paid a little under $300 for it my first semester

Check out the FB pages for El Centro/Northlake current nursing students. The class that is 4th semester and graduating soon sometimes post there and offer to sell their books. The paper copy of the books (unbound) are available for $50 after you make your initial purchase, so sometimes they are willing to part for them for less than $50. So for dosage & calc we use the Henke Nursing Math book. If you can find one of those used, I would buy it. Just make sure you un-select it from your book package through Lippincott if you buy it in advance
