El Centro/NLC ADN Spring 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!I

I wanted to make a group for all the people applying for the Spring 2020 program. Has anyone taken the HESI yet? If so, are there better tools than the book?

Thank you for the heads up...I really hope I get in.

I'm an El Centro Northlake campus, second semester student. First semester was very busy, and confusing but once you get into the groove of things it gets better. Prepare to pay $3000 for books, Clinical was rotated so for example, Northlake went to clinical for 3 weeks and then El Centro went to clinical for 3 weeks, and then Northlake 2/3 wks and El Centro 2/3 wks. I don't think El Centro got to do their clinical because Covid happened. There will be a lot of preQuizzes and post quizzes. You will be busy, but you can do it.

Nursing students no longer need to pay for their books with the IncludED program now. The semester after us ??‍♀️

classes were normally all day Tues and Wed. Tests normally on Mondays, and clinical either on Thursday or Friday, depending on your choice.
definitely get a planner!

Everyone mentions a Planner. Definitely going to have to get one, thanks.

How did the schedule look like in a week? Yes it was a hard time especially with Covid-19.

You will be pretty busy especially being brand new to nursing school you will have to adjust but it’s doable. Just stay organized and study study. As someone said class was Tuesdays and Wednesday’s all day pretty much and Thursday or Friday you could have clinical.

Good, thank you guys. This is helpful. wish you all the best.

Oh WOW!!. Okay Shirley87 ignore the $3000 books, sounds like they have a better plan for you guys, which is awesome for yall.

Yes, get a planner and use pencil or invest in white because you'll be making changes to it quite often. ?

Doesn't that mean they will increase the tuition a bit to be able to cover cost for books? That is very helpful though. Even more incentive to want to join the program.

Possibly, it may be better that way.

Yes tuition does increase. It will cover books and some lab material I believe like skills kits. I did the opt out program so I do not have tuition increase but that’s because we already paid for our books, etc.

Tacking it on to the tuition apparently “saves” money. Personally, I doubt it will be much less. The real benefit is that you might not have to deal with the back and forth purchase and returns we did. I’m also 2nd Level, and we had to purchase, return, purchase, return, until El Centro could finally give us a definitive list of required books (they duplicated many on the initial list). Activating all of them at the correct time (some virtual books are only good for a year) was a hassle as well. Not trying to be discouraging, just want to give everyone a heads up that you’ll rarely, if ever, be given definitive answers throughout this program.

1 week to go! I just retook the HESI this weekend to raise my score. I have 37 points. Is that good enough? How many points does everyone have?

For Castle Branch; are those due dates critical on the account? Mine had a due date of last year but I think it’s been fixed now.

I never got an answer after being on hold for an hour. I went into the ElCentro/Castle Branch site where I picked my package and if I picked it today it would be the same as the one I have. I’m not going to worry about my due date, however I do have the Spring package.

I am applying for Fall 2021. My castle branch is showing Fall 2020 with 1/31/2020 as deadline. Did it matter to you in the similar case? I am also not worried about it since it shows Compliant status, but wanted to check with you since yours was a similar case. ?

This is okay. As long as it says "Fall" they can use it for subsequent terms.
