El Centro Fall 2018

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I will be applying to the fall 2018 semester at El Centro. I am excited but also nervous that I might not have enough points. How many points will everyone else be applying with?

Hi. Is anyone applying for Spring 2019? I'm hopeful that their conditional status will be lifted.

Im going to apply for Spring 2019 if they have it open. Im kind of feeling nervous about it because of what happened this semester though.

Hi, I spoke to Kanora and she said they wouldn't be giving refunds for Sentry Med. If you do want to apply for Spring 2019 then the July 15 th submission deadline is still applicable. They won't know for sure until Sep or Octo on the future of the nursing program. They did say the preliminary test scores were looking good but it is pretty much a waiting game at this point.

I haven't decided if I will apply or not but I will def be applying to more this time around after I finish up classes this summer. Lets stay positive and move forward!!! Good luck to everyone.

All though application were sent to Brookhaven they are not being considered unless you actually met all requirements. Which is Dosage calculation, the critical thinking exam and the other requirements. Plus you had to show your social number and drivers license when applying so they were not just accepting the forwarded application from El Centro. So for anyone who did actually go through the application process and applied for Brookhaven please follow and comment on the Brookhaven blog and share your stats. We would all love to hear from y'all this has been a long application cycle.

Also just for the people asking about if it is safe to apply for Spring 2019. El Centro is considered to be on Conditional Approval and have conditions that must be meet to be considered for change in their approval status.

1. The program shall not enroll students while on conditional approval status.

2. The program will remain on conditional status approval status until the program demonstrates a pass rate for first-time candidates of at least 80% on the

2018 NCLEX-RN examination. The NCLEX-RN examination year is October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018.

3. The program must demonstrate full compliance with Rule 215 prior to consideration of a change in approval status. (Basically meet requirements for Professional Nursing Education) it's long so didn't want to type it. You can always go to Texas Board of Nursing to find out any information you want to know about your school it is public record.

They hold their first meeting after the September 30, 2018 NCLEX-RN deadline on October 25/26, 2018 so if their pass rates are at 80% or better and they are in compliance with Rule 215 that is when you may know or it could not be until the meeting they hold in January 2019. I would say you can put your application in but I would also look into other programs. It may be over a year before they gain their eligibility again.

This school is right across the street from me. I am studying for the PSB and am scheduled to test 5/9. I already took it once (didnt study), it is much harder than the hesi. Hoping to do better this time! What are you using to study?

hi yall! I was planning to apply for the spring '19 program before hearing about all of this. I had heard that their class schedules were the easiest to work with for people who have to work or have kids, but I have been trying to reach out to the nursing administration for about 2 weeks now (calls and emails) to ask what their class schedules are like (if anyone here knows id greatly appreciate it if you shared, I was told by a previous graduate that it was only 3 days a week but that just seems like it wouldn't be enough class room time. anyways, it thought it was worth mentioning that the deadlines for spring are coming up and I get the feeling that I am intentionally being ignored by the administration...

Hi Shall,

Unfortunately it sounds like you are being ignored. Usually the dept gets back with me within 24hrs but Im assuming they are overwhelmed with trying to meet their accreditation requirements. I can't speak to the scheduling but I was told by the advisor that things were looking good for them and that it's a possibility that classes may still start in Fall, but more than likely they will in January. I still plan on reapplying for them for this upcoming application period. Best of luck to you!

I really hope that is true lala2019. I honestly just go up there Shall when I need info because alot of times they don't answer and if they do they kind of rush you off the phone. Lets hope for the best because I am pretty sure there are alot of applicants in the LVN pool.

That would be something else if they enroll students for Fall!

Hey I am looking into other schools and Chamberlain College of Nursing was recommended to me by my sister in law who is a nurse in Houston. She has a coworker whos gone through them for her BSN. Anyone have any experience with them or know anyone who has gone through their BSN program?

It should not be this hard to get into nursing school! I have had to take a slow path to getting all of my pre reqs completed because I work a full time job and im a single mom to 2 boys. After 2 years I had finally gotten all my basics and pre reqs completed, and I am definately feeling dissapointed that I wont be in a nursing program by this fall. I am still going to try and get into Collin county for the fall, but seeing as I will be taking the entrance exam without the time to prepare for it I am not feeling very confident. I will be taking PE this summer and chemistry this summer to meet the qualifications for spring at MVC and BHC. I will also be applying to an LVN program as a backup plan for if I cant get into MVC or BHC. Im just feeling very discouraged, and I just want to be doing my dream job already.
