I will be applying to the fall 2018 semester at El Centro. I am excited but also nervous that I might not have enough points. How many points will everyone else be applying with?
Oh that's right. I took that as a requirement for my associates in science degree I believe. It was a requirement for UTA. When I was a freshman, my first goal was to transfer to UTA so I took all of their requirements as well. Luckily, speech isn't a requirement.... it's somehing I've been avoiding for the longest.
Yeah i havent taken PE so I dont qualify to submit an application to Mountain View. I havent taken chemistry so I cant submit an application to Brookhaven. Navarro and Richland have had their deadlines for the fall already pass. I think im stuck having to face the fact that Im going to have to take some more classes and apply to the spring at a different school. It just feels like I have wasted time, money, and energy applying to El Centro and am pissed that they waited so long to notify us on what was going on.
It is going to be a huge drive, but if I get in it will be worth it. It doesnt give me much time to study for the PSB, but hopefully I can pull it off. I think im going to try to get in there, and then cram in some classes this summer to qualify to the spring of some other schools just in case.
At this point I am so frustrated, almost 2 years of pre-reqs for el centro, for nothing. Im going to the school on Monday for more answers. I would apply for MVC but the application is lengthy, it wants $50 for a background check and I dont have PE. Not sure if its worth it, I just feel so overwhelmed, Im frustrated for all of us!
Call and verify. If I'm not mistaken, all of the applications were sent to Brookhaven and Mountain View. However, this does mean that you are up against not only everyone that applied to El Centro, but everyone else that applied to their own respective schools. El Centro has been on warning status for a well over a year now and were given ultimatums on correcting their issues at hand. El Centro sent in why they could possibly be having issues with less satisfactory pass rates and had to send in how they would improve their scores to the Texas BON. Thus, leading to more strenuous standards and the need for higher points. To gain the most "qualified" students that are more likely to pass the nclex. However, even with the changes they made, it was determined that their scores dropped yet again and they were placed on conditional status leading to not being able to admit any more nursing students. This year will determine whether or not the conditional sanction can be lifted. The future of that nursing program is very dependent on this years fall and spring class. While frustrating, yes...This is a blessing. Why would anyone want to apply to a school where they have a 69 percent pass rate? You want to pay all of that money to a school for nursing education and you potentially may not pass the very important nclex? Ultimately, you will want your BSN if you live in the Dallas area. Start working towards it and strive to get into Brookhaven or MV or Collin or TCC. Don't settle for less when you can potentially have the best.

I give up on this school. I spent so much money trying to meet their requirements as well. I took an HPRS course that will not be valid next semester if they do decide to take applications.
