El Centro Fall 2015

Published

Hello All!! I know it is VERY early to be thinking about this but the process to get in takes quite a long time. I wanted to make a thread to help us all get through the application process together, share problems, feelings, etc. :)

Oh yea forgot to ask. Does anyone know how the actual nursing program schedule is once you're in it. Like what kind of days and hours? I work full time and I'm debating if Im going to have to bump down to part time or even PRN.

I believe there is a sample schedule on the ADN information session. The power point presentation.

Hmmm.. I guess I may be confused then because on the forms that are to be filled out by a physician or practitioner, it indicates that original forms must be submitted to El centro and in the ADN information pack it states copies should be made for yourself since the originals are to be submitted. Unless I am understanding wrong.

This is what it says on the immunization form/physical:

"PART III- Immunizations (To be completed by your primary care provider or former student health service). Please note you MUSTsubmit your original health documentation from your providers supporting each vaccine listed on the El Centro Health Forms."

The ADN information Packet states:

"All nursing applicants must comply with physical examination and immunization requirements and submit the documentation with application materials. Physical examination forms and immunization records become the property of the Health Occupations Admissions Office and will not be returned or photocopied for the student; therefore, the student must retain a copy of these documents for their

personal records."

I'm not sure?

I specifically asked this question to one of the nursing adviserd at the paramount bldg, and she says, No....we have to sent in every health documentation to sentry md. And once you're cleard by them, then that means you are also cleared by elcentro. You might take out time and go up there, or better still, give them a call, just to be sure.

I meant to say advisors. :)

Well, if that is the case, the information they have is very misleading. I e-mailed Mrs. Davenport for clarification. Thanks for the help!

You know what I've heard both ways too. I've been told we do not need to submit anything and I also have read to submit everything. So with that being said ...if theres any doubt just go ahead and send it all in your application but just be sure to be cleared with SENTRY MD as well.

Okay, thank you! I wasn't sure so I made an appointment with the nursing director tomorrow at 10am for her to look at all my paperwork and make sure I have everything completed! I'll let you guys know what she says.

I'm so nervous, I have 31 points and I feel like that's not enough. I'm debating on taking my HESI one more time. I want all 12 points :/

31 points is awesome! What did you use to study for HESI?

I bought a HESI book off Amazon for like $35 and studied that a couple of days before I took the exam.

I had my appointment yesterday with the nursing director and she said that we send our immunizations and physical exam to Sentry MD and we do not put anything like that in our packet. The application packet should only contain the two pages from the nursing packet and the HESI results. It should have one other paper if that relates to you but, I don't need it. There is an exact list on the check list in the packet. I just wanted to make sure and she looked over all my paperwork and said I was okay :)

I hope so. It makes me so nervous. Are you applying to?
