El Centro Fall 2015

Published

Hello All!! I know it is VERY early to be thinking about this but the process to get in takes quite a long time. I wanted to make a thread to help us all get through the application process together, share problems, feelings, etc. :)

I'm a new member to this forum. But I've always followed "Allnurses".

Im applying for Fall 2015. If calculated correctly I have 26 points right now. I plan to retake my hesi on Jan 23 to see if I can get a high score. On my hesi I made:

88 - A&P

88- Math

80- English

Any tips to improve my score? I have the Evolve book, but is there any websites or other reading material I could purchase to prepare for the exam.

I have most of my Classes. I have a 3.6 for my "3 prereqs"

I will have both HPRS classes. and about 8 of the UTA BSN courses.

I dont know if its okay to ask. But does anyone have 30 points or more? Does anyone know of anyone who got accepted with less than 25 points?

Anybody have any suggestions on where to get Healthcare level Provider CPR Certified?

Applicants who get accepted usually have a higher score of 27 and above. Last semesters cutoff was 27. To be on the safe side, I would shoot for at least 29 points. You did pretty well on Hesi. I take mine Jan. 16th and pretty nervous about it, but I've been studying so we'll see. I also heard quizlet was a lot of help for people who took Hesi.

Hello! I am so confused as far as the sentry md goes. Do we only send the immunizations and physicals to them and not submit them with the packet?

I think we fax in our forms to Sentry to the number(s) provided on the El Centro website and then submit the original copies with our packet.

You can fax, email, etc. the forms to Sentry.

Yes, you only send in your immunization records and physical assessment. Don't forget your CPR card. The rest of the packet goes to elcentro. Hope that helps!

I don't think we have to send in the original forms to elcentro, those are your own documents, just in case you need them in the future, which definitely you will need them. Once sentry md clears you, I think you are done with that part, and you don't have to send it in to elcentro anymore. They will have to pull it up from them (sentry md). Good luck to all of us!!!

Anybody have any suggestions on where to get Healthcare level Provider CPR Certified?

If you already had one, and you just want to renew them, that will be easy..But I'm not sure if it too late to get it. Also, elcentro does a training on cpr. May be you should go up there (at the paramount bldg) and ask them. Goodluck! :-)

As far as MD Sentry. Just fax in your immunizations & physical form thats on the El centro website. Send in your CPR card and I also saw health insurance was required as well. Im not sure if its once your accepted but I went ahead and sent it all. If for any reason your name is not on your insurance card make sure you send proof that you're covered.

As far as the CPR. I believe methodist offers it.

yea I thought 27 was the cut off this past semester as that is what one of the advisors told me at el centro. I tried to get them to let me take two classes in the winter, but nope :(

Oh yea forgot to ask. Does anyone know how the actual nursing program schedule is once you're in it. Like what kind of days and hours? I work full time and I'm debating if Im going to have to bump down to part time or even PRN.

Hmmm.. I guess I may be confused then because on the forms that are to be filled out by a physician or practitioner, it indicates that original forms must be submitted to El centro and in the ADN information pack it states copies should be made for yourself since the originals are to be submitted. Unless I am understanding wrong.

This is what it says on the immunization form/physical:

"PART III- Immunizations (To be completed by your primary care provider or former student health service). Please note you MUSTsubmit your original health documentation from your providers supporting each vaccine listed on the El Centro Health Forms."

The ADN information Packet states:

"All nursing applicants must comply with physical examination and immunization requirements and submit the documentation with application materials. Physical examination forms and immunization records become the property of the Health Occupations Admissions Office and will not be returned or photocopied for the student; therefore, the student must retain a copy of these documents for their

personal records."

I'm not sure?
