El Centro Fall 2015

Published

Hello All!! I know it is VERY early to be thinking about this but the process to get in takes quite a long time. I wanted to make a thread to help us all get through the application process together, share problems, feelings, etc. :)

If anyone is trying to apply to the Elcentro nursing program, you have to do your hprs class there in order to receive the full points on those.

Really!???!

Yes! You might be lucky and get into a winter mester class. It feels up really quick! Like you have to be on your computer by 5,6 am in order to get into the class. I'm doing 1202 right now, pretty easy class.

I am taking HPRS 1204 at collin right now....who said that the hrps classes have to be taken at el centro? That makes no sense, why couldn't I transfer it over with all my other classes??

You can make out time and call the paramount bldg. I'm sure they will clear any concerns that you have about the program prereqs.

When I spoke to the El Centro advisor for health care/nursing about 3 weeks ago, she said we could take HPRS with Collin.

Hey,

Has anyone taken the HESI yet? How did you do? Any tips?

Hey all!

I am going to be applying for spring and fall semester and see which one I get accepted to. I have a quick question How do I calculate my pre-req course GPA?

Here the answer to your question!

Smilsen,

When calculating GPA you have to factor in your grade earned which goes by points and number of credit hours for each course. For example, say you earned

an A in ENGL 1301 which is 3 credit hours

a C in A&P1 which is 4 credit hours

an A in Intro to Psych which is 3 credit hours.

A= 4 points earned

B= 3 points earned

C= 2 earned

English 1: (A)4 X 3 = 12

A & P1: ©2 x 4 = 8

Intro to Psych: (A)4 X 3 = 12

Then, add up grade points earned by the total.

4 + 2 + 4 = 10

12 + 8 + 12 = 32

Then, divide the totals.

32/10 = 3.2 GPA

Hi Luchy and hi everyone. I joined this forum today because of the interesting comments here. Luchy, if I took humanities 1315 which was fine arts appreciation, does that still count as arts appreciation 1301 based on your post above?

Thanks

kelly.

Hi kelly, I guess they said it has to match the course number, or else you don't get a credit for it. You might as well go up there to the paramount building ( if you go to elcentro) and ask them that info. Just to double check. But as far as I know, it has to be the exact course number on the ADN packet, and the classes leading to the BSN route. I hope that helps!
