El Camino, Compton, Cypress College Spring 2020 nursing application process

Hi everyone. I applied to El Camino College, Compton College and Cypress College. I was hoping we could help each other out in sharing information. This is my first time applying to any nursing program. All I know for now is that ECC is supposed to send an email to potential candidates to take TEAS on or around Oct 21. What I don’t understand is if we will get the invite around that time or if we will be TESTING around that time. It can be read either way. At compton, the lady at the front desk said they’d be behind one week for testing due to her being gone due to a death in the family. So she said that if I got an invite to take the TEAS elsewhere, to do it and then contact her so that she can tell me where to send it. All I remember from Cypress is that we should get an email by Dec 12 or so and to call the school if we don’t. But I don’t remember what they said as far as the TEAS. I guess I’m wondering if denial letters also get sent when invites for TEAS get sent. Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback from anyone. Thanks!

@Rnhopeful23 can you please share your total score. Up to this point you and me are waiting for a spot at Compton. I was bummed but after reading this I feel hopeful... guys @Dub and @Sue_ema what are you waiting to decline his/her offer to Compton???. Please do it ASAP because this waiting is so brutal!!!

My score is pretty low like some where in the 60s my overall gpa is 2.9 and my science is 2.7. I have an AA and work expeience so that kinda helped. Wasnt the best student ??‍♂️. How about you?

Well my overall gpa is 3.4, sciences is 3.00 (3 b’s) my teas was 68.7.. no experience, and I couldn’t get the 5 points of the AA, although I already have all the transfer requirements because I apply for the certificate too late... what about your teas score?

I know. Well, I was under the assumption that I had to take it in person. Also, I wasn’t sure if I my background was going to keep me from staying in ECC, so I didn’t want to decline it until I was sure. Idk, I guess I was hoping that if ECC didn’t take me, maybe Compton would. Makes no sense since they probably both have the same requirements. On Friday I was told I’d be ok, so I was planning on dropping it off today, but never got around to it. But I will asap tomorrow.

I know Channah (we never heard back from her) was debating between ECC and Santa Monica. And the others at orientation that mentioned Harbor made it seem like they would accept Harbor over ECC if they got accepted. Only three were honest abt it and I’m sure there were prob more waiting on Harbor as well. But if Harbor hasn’t sent out notices, then I’m glad someone chose to go elsewhere. Those waiting on Compton, be patient. I feel like almost everyone that got into ECC also got into Compton. I heard many talking about it as we waited in the hall before orientation. So there will definitely be lots of opening. I’ll email mine tomorrow now that you mentioned that we could.

Well It seems like there’s quite a few of us in the same boat I have a 3.3 overall GPA 2.7 in science .. I have the AA but no medical experience my teas wasn’t greAt so now just hoping for a miracle .. congrats again to all that got in and for the rest of us let’s not give up hope just yet ..

Guys I feel your anxiety, even though I was an alternate I never felt I was accepted, so I couldn’t celebrate till now. Stay positive, if no denials have been sent then there is hope, I’m sure they are waiting till after orientation to go down the list. I’ll make the call tomorrow to decline. Keep the prayers going ?

As long as we meet the minimum we should be good

I heard that a lot of people didnt do well on the teas so I'm hoping we all still have a chance. Plus we havent gotten a denial so that's a plus.

The director said we have to wait for an email with the correct password. So she said to not do anything with it for now.
