El Camino, Compton, Cypress College Spring 2020 nursing application process

Hi everyone. I applied to El Camino College, Compton College and Cypress College. I was hoping we could help each other out in sharing information. This is my first time applying to any nursing program. All I know for now is that ECC is supposed to send an email to potential candidates to take TEAS on or around Oct 21. What I don’t understand is if we will get the invite around that time or if we will be TESTING around that time. It can be read either way. At compton, the lady at the front desk said they’d be behind one week for testing due to her being gone due to a death in the family. So she said that if I got an invite to take the TEAS elsewhere, to do it and then contact her so that she can tell me where to send it. All I remember from Cypress is that we should get an email by Dec 12 or so and to call the school if we don’t. But I don’t remember what they said as far as the TEAS. I guess I’m wondering if denial letters also get sent when invites for TEAS get sent. Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback from anyone. Thanks!

Thanks Sam, I’ll look into her. Hopefully she’s not some chick that comes from a well off family, lol. Either way, I’m sure she’s got pointers. It is always nice to get advice from people who are dealing or involved in what you’re trying to get in. So you know that in order for us to even have a chance at gtn into a CRNA program, we have to pretty much Ace all the classes we’re going to take for the ADN and BSN. Good luck to us ?

lol nah she talks about how her and her husband budget a lot and is paying it all off. she seems super down to earth but she has a ton of videos directing questions about school etc. && Yes once I am in nursing I told everyone I will be 100% focused only on nursing because this is my "only" opportunity to pass and grow. I messed up with my science classes letting drama/work distract me from getting straight A's but never again lol. Good luck and work hard, you are in so take this opportunity to grow!!

I told u...that prob means Harbor already sent out emails. And that opens up more for Compton. I think I’m going to email my rejection to Compton. Don’t really feel like driving 15 miles just to submit a paper. Cypress has u accept/decline through their website. Makes it so much easier.

Thank you! I can finally breath. You can call or email Compton. She told me no more acceptance will be going out, it’s all up to the Accepted & alternates to decline or accept. For those waiting you prob won’t know till after orientation. I’m going to call tomorrow to decline as alternate that way people get opportunities.

I was told compton may have to do a second round of letters. I havent receive any email at all yet from them after taking the teas. I just wanna know if I'm in or not the wait is killing me.

If they do, they go based on points & the teas score for the science . She told me my science score is what put me on top of the list.

@Dub harbor hasn’t sent out letters yet. I guess I was on top of list .

Sorry Sue_ema, I didn’t mean it in a negative way. I’m sure u were top of list. I don’t don’t see people denying ECC unless they got into a school that they preferred more. I know Channah (we never heard back from her) was debating between ECC and Santa Monica. And the others at orientation that mentioned Harbor made it seem like they would accept Harbor over ECC if they got accepted. Only three were honest abt it and I’m sure there were prob more waiting on Harbor as well. But if Harbor hasn’t sent out notices, then I’m glad someone chose to go elsewhere. I’m happy to have u as a classmate. I feel like I’ve bonded so much with you already, lol.

Those waiting on Compton, be patient. I feel like almost everyone that got into ECC also got into Compton. I heard many talking about it as we waited in the hall before orientation. So there will definitely be lots of opening. I’ll email mine tomorrow now that you mentioned that we could.

So...I was looking at my acceptance letter from Compton and it had my name and someone else’s name. Makes me wonder if it was even for me to begin with, lol.
