El Camino, Compton, Cypress College Spring 2020 nursing application process

Hi everyone. I applied to El Camino College, Compton College and Cypress College. I was hoping we could help each other out in sharing information. This is my first time applying to any nursing program. All I know for now is that ECC is supposed to send an email to potential candidates to take TEAS on or around Oct 21. What I don’t understand is if we will get the invite around that time or if we will be TESTING around that time. It can be read either way. At compton, the lady at the front desk said they’d be behind one week for testing due to her being gone due to a death in the family. So she said that if I got an invite to take the TEAS elsewhere, to do it and then contact her so that she can tell me where to send it. All I remember from Cypress is that we should get an email by Dec 12 or so and to call the school if we don’t. But I don’t remember what they said as far as the TEAS. I guess I’m wondering if denial letters also get sent when invites for TEAS get sent. Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback from anyone. Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken I think the nursing counselor has to make you eligible for the class so you may have to go see her.

Well I went to see the counselor on Wednesday and she said nursing dept had to clear us and today the director told us counseling had to do it. I told the director that the counselor didn’t want to clear me and other students said the same. She took down our info and said she’d look into it. So who knows.

And of course Cypress emailed me today telling me that I got in as an alternate. I was almost positive I would get in. ??‍♀️

Ms. P have to give clearance before we can register. But in my case, I did not get a registration app for winter 2020. At first, I was told to wait, but until now I did not receive anything.

Hey, guys. I was the one who asked about being alternate and purchasing uniform. I guess I won’t know till Monday. Didn’t seem there’s was alternates asking much questions.

Accept ecc, being an alternate is torture.

Yes, I spoke to her abt my background and she said I was fine. So relieved!

Sue_ema: I know you’ll get in. It looks like those waiting on Harbor want to go there. I think there was three. There’s also a girl waiting for a response from a BSN program. U may not know it til January, but I feel like the alternates are going to get in.

Hopefully, I don’t have to wait too long, wanting ecc more now after hearing Compton is unorganized since the split. I seen a familiar face today who told me two of her friends are declining ecc .

I didn’t ask. My friend told me there was 5 in his cohort. I seen there was 50 names on sign in sheet, I believe 5 are lvns , so there is 5 left for alternate, total of 40 generic students if it makes any sense.
