El Camino, Compton, Cypress College Spring 2020 nursing application process

Published

Hi everyone. I applied to El Camino College, Compton College and Cypress College. I was hoping we could help each other out in sharing information. This is my first time applying to any nursing program. All I know for now is that ECC is supposed to send an email to potential candidates to take TEAS on or around Oct 21. What I don’t understand is if we will get the invite around that time or if we will be TESTING around that time. It can be read either way. At compton, the lady at the front desk said they’d be behind one week for testing due to her being gone due to a death in the family. So she said that if I got an invite to take the TEAS elsewhere, to do it and then contact her so that she can tell me where to send it. All I remember from Cypress is that we should get an email by Dec 12 or so and to call the school if we don’t. But I don’t remember what they said as far as the TEAS. I guess I’m wondering if denial letters also get sent when invites for TEAS get sent. Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback from anyone. Thanks!

I haven’t bought anything. I’m waiting to talk to the director on Friday. Either way, I’m only going to buy one of each and then see how often we have to wear them. If I have to wear everyday, then I’ll buy an extra one, but if I have a day in between to wash, then just one pair.

I’ll change my order then. It’s expensive. I paid $298 for 4 pairs and no cardigan. I called Dove if they have promo codes and she said nothing for ECC.

Yes, they are expensive! If these are the only uniforms we’re going to wear for the next two years, then probably buying an extra pair of ea will definitely be worth it and come in handy. But we won’t really know the answer to any of that until tomorrow at the orientation.

Also, they told us yesterday that we’ll most definitely gain weight ?and to order a size that we can possibly grow into. In other words, not too tight. So I guess the other option is to just buy one set and see if you actually gain weight in the next few months. If so, then either get on a diet or buy more. ?

I have to wait too ?, so those officially accepted didn’t have to purchase today ? I thought the deadline was today. Hoping it would help me know where I stand on orientation . Going to turn in my alternate acceptance to Compton. Based on what they tell me tomorrow I’ll decide which school I have higher chances of getting in.

Lol my thought exact, I was thinking of getting extra small but obviously I wouldn’t have time to go to gym.

Oh, so I looked into the loan thing. You have to request it. Log on to ur myECC, once signed in, go to Financial Aid and then it’ll take u to a section where u apply for the loan. You have to find it in the top of the screen. I did it yesterday. Now I’m waiting on approval from the school or a response from them. Not sure how much I’ll get granted. I asked for the full $22,000, which you can choose to get disbursed throughout the next few semesters. It depends on whether ur a dependent or not and whether u choose subsidized or unsubsidized. So get started on it if you need it.

That’s awesome ! for those who can’t get financial aid.

I was hoping to loose weight because we’ll probably be to busy, but I guess not. After all weight gain from stress is real.

The deadline for uniforms is today. But since I have to talk to her about my background, I asked her if I can order it on Friday. I was also told that was the day we’d get clear on classes so that we can enroll in Winter session. I checked to see if I can enroll in a boxing class or smthg, and NOTHING works w our schedule. So disappointed. I refuse to gain weight. I just lost 20lbs!

Do you know the interest rate?

I see , and Congrats on the weight loos. I easily gain weight , so I’m sure I’ll put on weight, but not to the extreme.

I had to look at other places for interest. I think it said subsidized under 4% and unsub 6%

I was told at financial aid that ECC used to have/offer loans and then that they stopped and that they just brought them back. So the lady helping me wasn’t very informed on the loans ??‍♀️

Go figure
