El Camino, Compton, Cypress College Spring 2020 nursing application process

Published

Hi everyone. I applied to El Camino College, Compton College and Cypress College. I was hoping we could help each other out in sharing information. This is my first time applying to any nursing program. All I know for now is that ECC is supposed to send an email to potential candidates to take TEAS on or around Oct 21. What I don’t understand is if we will get the invite around that time or if we will be TESTING around that time. It can be read either way. At compton, the lady at the front desk said they’d be behind one week for testing due to her being gone due to a death in the family. So she said that if I got an invite to take the TEAS elsewhere, to do it and then contact her so that she can tell me where to send it. All I remember from Cypress is that we should get an email by Dec 12 or so and to call the school if we don’t. But I don’t remember what they said as far as the TEAS. I guess I’m wondering if denial letters also get sent when invites for TEAS get sent. Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback from anyone. Thanks!

Thanks y’all. Just trying to get an idea of how much I would be starting at when I graduate.

So we’re talking $45 per 12 hour shifts 3x a week, right? 5 years ago, huh? Well then she’s definitely getting paid more now-or at least I would think. Ask if you can. It would be great to know. I have no RN friends so I have no one to ask. Is she working in LA area?

where i work nurses are starting at 48 to 50 an hr with their ADN fortunately we are not magnet so they hire adn nurses. The magnet hospital that i also work at pays way less, so i guess it just depends on the area.

RnHopeful, does the hospital you work at pay for the BSN?

yes, they have partnerships with various colleges so it will also be discounted.

Got it. Thanks for the info.

Damn, that really makes me wonder if I should even do the bridge program bc you all know that none of us would qualify for financial aid while doing it. We would have to pay for it ourselves and it isn’t until you graduate from the ADN program that you can then apply and get financial aid for the classes. That’s why I’m so mad I didn’t apply to Southwest.

I really want to do the bridge , I wouldn’t mind getting a loan. I’m sure graduating from a cal state university will look good on our resume & might open doors to better jobs.

I believe it’s between 2,000 to 3,000 per semester.
