Hi everyone. I applied to El Camino College, Compton College and Cypress College. I was hoping we could help each other out in sharing information. This is my first time applying to any nursing program. All I know for now is that ECC is supposed to send an email to potential candidates to take TEAS on or around Oct 21. What I don’t understand is if we will get the invite around that time or if we will be TESTING around that time. It can be read either way. At compton, the lady at the front desk said they’d be behind one week for testing due to her being gone due to a death in the family. So she said that if I got an invite to take the TEAS elsewhere, to do it and then contact her so that she can tell me where to send it. All I remember from Cypress is that we should get an email by Dec 12 or so and to call the school if we don’t. But I don’t remember what they said as far as the TEAS. I guess I’m wondering if denial letters also get sent when invites for TEAS get sent. Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback from anyone. Thanks!
Thanks Sue_ema. Hey, by any chance, do u know how much they’re making monthly? My cousin says she has friends that bring in $8K free after taxes, per month. I don’t believe her. At one of our classes, the teacher said RNs get paid $50 and I’ve seen some posts state the same. Have they told you? I was wondering how much since they are Compton/ECC graduates.

My cousin graduated from ECC and she make $45/hr working in ER as ADN-RN. It was 5 years ago when I asked. I don’t know now.

It depends on the facility and your experience, new grads don’t start off high, I believe between 40’s & 50’s . in nursing you climb a latter when it comes to pay. I have a friend who graduated from Compton and works at harbor UCLA & my other friend graduated from el Camino & works at centinela hospital, not Sure how much they get paid.
That would be great if I could get my employer to pay for my BSN. Did she do the bridge program? I’m wondering if we’re better off not doing it snd getting a job and then have your employer do pay for it, you know what I mean?
Centinela Hospital is literally two blocks away from me. I wonder how much they pay. I’d love to start there just bc I would be able to walk, lol. If you can find out, please do.

Yes. I know someone who graduated from a private college and got a pay raise, 2yrs ago. She’s making $50/hr. She always work overtime.

I believe Gardena & centinela are easy hospitals to get hired at. My co workers friends bf works at Gardena memorial in the cardiac unit & I believe she said he gets paid in the high 60’s , idk how long he has been a nurse or if he works full time, but nursing is all about experience & knowing how much you’re worth.

I’m not sure, but I think she did a bridge program. She told me before that most hospital required ADN-RN nurses to get BSN and they won’t hire anymore ADN-RN. But some nurses said that they still hire ADN. It depends where you apply.

I have two friends that graduated from el Camino & Compton . They both say the program is tough & both say it’s a good program. Of course there’s always the mean teacher & the nice one & both schools will be disorganized , no programs are perfect.
