El Camino, Compton, Cypress College Spring 2020 nursing application process

Hi everyone. I applied to El Camino College, Compton College and Cypress College. I was hoping we could help each other out in sharing information. This is my first time applying to any nursing program. All I know for now is that ECC is supposed to send an email to potential candidates to take TEAS on or around Oct 21. What I don’t understand is if we will get the invite around that time or if we will be TESTING around that time. It can be read either way. At compton, the lady at the front desk said they’d be behind one week for testing due to her being gone due to a death in the family. So she said that if I got an invite to take the TEAS elsewhere, to do it and then contact her so that she can tell me where to send it. All I remember from Cypress is that we should get an email by Dec 12 or so and to call the school if we don’t. But I don’t remember what they said as far as the TEAS. I guess I’m wondering if denial letters also get sent when invites for TEAS get sent. Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback from anyone. Thanks!

Not sure if pamphlet is current, but $250 per unit. 3 units is mandatory per summer with option of 3 more units. Total of 6 units max per summer.

250x3= $750; 250x6= $1500

To get BSN you must do about 50 units.

Once enrolled $2000 per semester for part time (up to 6 units). Full time around $3000.

All of this doesn’t include books, obviously.

It sounds like a lot but look how much others are paying for private schools. We get it cheaper plus we graduate from an actual university, so I think it’s a win.

Yeah I know, but it still hurt hearing how much am I gonna pay if I decided to apply for bridge program. I’m broke that’s why.

I know someone who went private have about $200k student loan debt.

Tell me about being broke, still trying to figure out how I’m going to pay all my bills. The nurse who did my laser treatment went to AUHS & she told me , she pays $ 1,200 monthly towards her loan.

Omg ! I received my second alternate acceptance from Compton, looks like I’m number 3. Not sure where I stand at this point at el Camino, received email from them saying not to buy uniform yet till after orientation, so I had to place it on hold. I’m lucky to have 2 more chances. Congrats to those that got 1st round .

Don’t worry, you’ll get in. If not into ECC, for sure into Compton. Many of us that got into ECC got into Compton as well, so that’s going to open up a bunch of spots. I may not even get in bc of my background. I went today to try on uniforms and spoke to the director. She said to talk to her on Friday. ?

I’m sure you’ll be fine. I hate being in this situation but it’s better than a No!

How many pair of on-campus & off-campus uniforms did you guys bought?

I was planning to buy only 1 pair, but I was told to buy at least 2 pairs. I bought 2 pairs of each uniform.

I haven’t bought anything. I’m waiting to talk to the director on Friday. Either way, I’m only going to buy one of each and then see how often we have to wear them. If I have to wear everyday, then I’ll buy an extra one, but if I have a day in between to wash, then just one pair.
