Hey every1. Well, I'm having a slight problem at my job. I work night shift and the nurse I work next to is constantly complaing and it gets to the point to where she throws things around like papers or empty boxes, slams things like charts and other objects, constantly saying things like "I can't take this BS anymore, I'm quiting, this is rediculous ect.." She brings her personal life to work and she's just totally out of control. It's to the point to where no one wants to work with her, cna's or nurses, and on her nights off every1's mood is completely different. We're relaxed, can chit chat, have a nice QUIET night, and every 1 comments on what a nice night it is it's quiet and relaxed ect. She has every1's nerves on edge and she just causes so much stress. She has tempertantrums every night and she's just a tornado in that place. Not may ppl say anything to her when she gets outta control like that (which IS every night) because they don't want to make it worse. I have said some things a few times and trust me it DOES make it worse. She starts cussing and throwing things around if I take out the trash under my desk and not hers, or if 3-11 leaves even 1 single peice of paper on their desk, everything is 'the end of the world' type of situation. Seriously I don't know if I can take it anymore. I like where I work, I like the staff and the patients. I was a cna there for 2 years before I got licensed and usually going from cna to lpn in the same facility generally doesn't work it's working out really well for me but I'm to the point to where if she doesn't quit I'm going to have to leave and the cna's are begging me not to leave them I don't know waht to do. Going to management wouldn't really do anything because even if they talked to her she'd just come in crying (yes she actually cries tears over things as little as no1 taking out the trash) and it woudl make it worse for every1. Any1 have any ideas on what do to besides leaving a job I really do like? BTW changing halls is not an option, every1 has permanant hall including me. Thanks! :)

Document everything she does and says minute by minute, hour by hour and document the reactions of the residents and other staff. Do it for at least 3 nights then present it to your supervisor and see what happens.

This is not something I would leave a good job over. Get the supervisors involved and don't let it drop.

Keep handing her rope.

First off don't even THINK about leaving your job over her. Secondly, this may seem odd but have you tried just completely ignoring her behavior? I mean, act as if she is not doing or saying anything at all ? People often do this for attention. I am not telling you to act as if she is invisible when she acts out....OK that is EXACTLY what I'm telling you to do. If you all get together and do that she will either calm down or quit. Either way, problem solved. DON'T FEED INTO IT !

I 100% agree with this. When I worked at the library we had the same problem. All the pages finally got feed up with it and just stopped talking to her unless we needed to. After a couple of weeks, she calmed down and any time she started up again, we stopped doing anything for her and she would calm down. That type of person just wants attention. :twocents:
