Just got a call from my husband, a guy he works with Father.... is in his 4th semester of nursing... (ob & Peds).... and wanted to know if I could tutor him... his final is this Friday...
Egads..lol... umm... my specialty is ICU/CCU Cardio and Pulmonary... I know nuthing about birthin no babies..lol
Gosh... I dont even have any of my ob books....
any suggestions... I always go with safety first.. then ask a nurse.... if I dont know... but I have been out of school for a while... there was a reason I didn't go into OB.. lol.. and now I'm having to revisit it.
Any sugguestions would be great... think all I really need to teach him is test taking strategies... which I am great at.. I think that might be where his problem is. But any help so I dont sound stupid would be great...
HUGS,
Rae

For post partum remind him of BUBLE check her:
Breasts, uterus, bladder, lochia, edema.
He needs to know what to look for, norms mainly.

Tell him that when the woman starts yelling "THE BABY'S COMING, I HAVE TO PUSH!!", do not say calmly, "No it's not, it's not time yet." If he does, I guarantee he will be trying to catch a baby barehanded before it hits the floor.
