ECPI/MCI LPN Program - anyone?

U.S.A. Virginia

I haven't posted here before..so it's nice to meet all of you =)

I was curious as to whether or not anyone here has gone to ECPI/MCI for their 12 month LPN program. I live in Manassas, VA so I go to their Manassas campus - however the ECPI's in Norfolk and VA Beach have programs as well. My reason for asking is that my class is the first LPN class (to start and graduate in December) for the Manassas campus..and we (my class) has had several issues with the way the school has been ran. I was just wanting to know if anyone had gone to this school, and if so - did you ever have any problems with staff, ways of teaching, rules, etc?? Thanks

Well I can agree with the drama issues. Then again my wife and I are 4 terms in and were going to switch from nights to day class to finish actually a month sooner (We'd already lost 1 really good instructor) plus the instructor who took over when we went to switch has left. They have also lost several other good RNs as instructors in Roanoke. My Wife and I are actually going to VB this weekend to look into changing to the RN program since we can finish only a few months later then we would have otherwise for our LPN. Im a little worried bout her and the crunch but me personally IM not worried Ive managed to keep a 4.0 all the way through so far so the upshift to RN I dont expect to be too hard (We've already covered Pysch and some Med Surg but will haev to pick up part II of Pharm. A&P, English and one other class which LPN you only take 1st part of). It'll eb interesting but me personally the harsh truth is your clinical experience with ECPI is what you make of it. You have to go look to find stuff to do. if you sit back oppty's will pass you by and from what I know of other nursing programs thats also the truth you have to basically pursue your education. While there are more opptys on days thats not to say you cant find stuff on evenigns to do also. Then again with my previous experience as a Med Tech CNA II In NC and also in EMS some skills I already had coming into school already.

Hi,

I recently moved to the Raleigh area about 10 months ago. i looked into Wake Tech's nursing program. It seems very well organized & reputable. Problem was, I haven't lived here for a full year, so I was going to be charged out-of-state tuition. I thought, since I have to wait, why not get my LPN so that I at least have a jump start.

I came across ECPI (via the NC board of nursing website). I am scheduled to go for their nursing info session on Wednesday, but must say, I am now very nervous.

Does anyone have any experience with this campus? The advisor Wanda was very vague & gave me no info at all via the phone. She said all my questions would be answered @ the info session. After reading other posts, Im not sure I even want to attend. I know that Wake Tech does not have an LPN to RN advance placement program. I would hate to waste the time going to ECPI if its all going to be worthless. If that's the case, I'll just wait until January & attempt WTCC RN program.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! time & cost are of the essence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i dont start MCI till sept but i have had the chance to meet some styaff at the VA beach campus an also the ppl in the office they seem very sweet an just ther to help as much they can....

I am happy to say that I made it though my first week of nursing school. My first day, I had A&P and Nursing Freshman Oren. When we met in A&P we were given handouts about info. concerning the school and its requirements. Then we went straight to the books...We had a quiz the following class...Yes it goes that fast. I must say that I can already tell that a few people in my class aren't going to make it...I really hate it for the ones that have to work full time. On my quiz I made a 81 in A&P (POP QUIZ) and on my Math test I made a 96! So far that's how my first week went. Well let my study because I got my first A&P test Monday...(pray for me)

You got to make a 80 or above on most of everything but the beginning Math and Nursing Fresh Oren. I started out study from day ONE and I already got days set up for tutoring.

ecpi raleigh 07/09 when does the next class start in raleigh. I already took the TEAS but decided not to attend in july due to medical issues.:lol2::madface:

I suppose to start September 28th. But its the ECPI in Greenville Full-Time. Good luck everyone in the ventures of nursing. TEAS wasn't so bad. I considered working a night shift and going to school during the day but on a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being the hardest ... how was the first week?

I am sorry to hear that...but the next class starts in Dec. The number is 919-571-0057! Good luck!!!

The first week was...thinking....... a 7 3/4...almost a 8! It goes by sooo fast and you have ALOT to get in 5 weeks! I cried for the first time today because I made a 78 on my first a&p test...but I can make it up with doing better on my next test!

Passing is a 80 or above!

Oh but I made a 96 on my 1st math test! :)

Oh my goodness! Keep up the hard work. I guess I should start studying the basics of everything before I run out of the door on the first day screaming. *lol* 78 isn't so bad ... you were like 2 points shy and as long as you can make up for it ... that's alll that matters. I can totally understand your tears and fears of getting a low score though. Keep me posted on your status! :-) I can't wait to start school again.:yeah::bowingpur

YES ECPI IS Pricey...and for nothing... I attended ECPI MCI to earn my LPN which I did... But I had teachers put me down. None of them really ever helped me. and we had 4 deans of Nursing while I was there and I just looked at the website and they have new one now... The rules are crazy and some teacher's didn't teach us a thing at clinicals ...well they taught us CNA stuff...I have been a CNA for 6 years I paid to be a LPN...

I am truly sorry for the fact that the teachers put you down. I had something similar while I was trying to make it through CNA training but from the students. I basically put it towards my efforts at doing better to get by to avoid any drama. I hate drama in general and if I can avoid it all cost I will. I was wondering ... what books did they supply you with for the LPN program at ECPI? Maybe since I got a few weeks before it starts, I could go to the library and veg out and study until I can't breathe. *lol* ECPI is a little pricey and steep but luckily I got full coverage and enough to spare for the next level of training. I thought about completing the LPN program here and then move on to the RN program or BSN program that they offer up in Virginia Beach. My admission guy said I would get a substantial amount of tuition dropped off for continuing with MCI but I'd best talk to VA for SC doesn't offer the same programs. I walked through CNA training with a breeze but I will be slightly dissappointed if I go through the same training again to obtain a higher degree of learning :-/.
