Eating Healthy in Nursing School

Published

Hi everyone, a while back i started a thread about eating healthy in nursing school.

I was trying to post this on the health related thread but couldn't find it.

So that this post applies here too, what do you do to maintain your health during school?

For me, I have been exercising daily and have been eating a vegan diet. I pack my lunch for school and try to carry healthy snacks with me at all times. I find that being prepared for my day helps with half the battle of eating unhealthy, salt/sugar laden food. I focus better and have LOST 20 pounds!!

What are your favorite healthy snacks?

Mine are Lara bars, apples, hummus/pita and veggies, mint tea to name a few.

I look forward to your replies and hope you have a chance to visit The Tasteful Vegan.

Mint tea is wonderful. I also like ginger tea, where you just take the root, peel and dice a part of it, and boil it. Soo spicy and refreshing!

I take baby carrots, protein shakes, bananas, etc. I eat a ton of fruit and veggies. I am pre nursing though and have not actually started my nursing classes (AUGUST!!) so, I may not be going as much as some. I too have lost 20 pounds! I run 4 days a week and circuit train 2.

Great thread!!

I go to the gym 5 days a week. Yes it is very touch to fit into such a demanding schedule but I go after my children are in bed, bring note cards so at least I'm studying too LOL, and then do school work while I wind down for bed.

I try to plan out my meals. I pack my lunch *most* of the time.

I snack on lots of fruits and veggies, power shakes, almonds, yogurt, and fruit smoothies.

Looking forward to checking out your blog :)

ITA. It's also the BEST for morning sickness. :redpinkhe

I heard that wheatgrass shots do amazing things for your body, including helping you not get sick....I am prone to getting sick so I think I am going to try it out!
