Eastern Kentucky PMHNP

Updated:   Published

Hello! Im looking for current PMHNP students at EKU for insider information. Im in the application process and cant seem to find enough information online to make an informed decision. The enrollment counselor stated they have a 98% pass rate, no I need more info. Please help!! Is this a good program, is the school supportive  especially in the online program. Thanks

I too am in the application process to start the Summer FNP program. I have not found much information out there either. I kinda think "no news, is good news" I have not seen any negative posts about the program, although finding preceptors might be the biggest obstacle, but that seems to be the problem with pretty much with all of them. I have applied to Wilkes University and Spring Arbor University and have been accepted to both. I prefer EKU because they are 100% online, whereas the other two require one campus visit. From the little bit I have found, it does seem like EKU is a good school.

Thank you for your response Sweetdee! I was able to chat with someone on facebook and she informed me EKU is a good choice. She said she joined their NP fb group and the students say they love the school. This school might be a hidden gem! I am proceeding with my application process for sure. Most importantly I really respect the individual that gave me information on EKU, she gave me pertinent information that saved me from going to a school she was attending..... too many red flags that I would not have known until I started the program! Best of luck

Thank you for sharing this information. If accepted, I think I will attend the EKU FNP program. Best of luck to you too!

Always, always, always ask about the attrition rate

Hello,

I was accepted at Maryville and Herzing.   I have heard some good and some bad about both.  Re Herzing-current students on their FB page had some negative comments about the program being too unstructured.  Someone mentioned EKU.  I am intrigued.  Any thoughts?  I do see some positive remarks here.  I am an RN working full time in CA and I have family, so the program needs to be 100% online, affordable and organized-meaning good instruction and guidance.  Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I have not started EKU as of yet. I am supposed to begin next month, but here's what I can tell you. EKU is 100% online and gets excellent reviews. The price is better than Maryville; not sure about Herzing. I want to say it's about $700 a credit hour for EKU. But recently, I did find out EKU is not 100% asynchronous from my admissions counselor. Some classes will require you to be available for online lectures. She said that the instructors give you plenty of notice if that is the case. Unfortunately, I work a block schedule, so I am not sure it will work for me, so I applied to the University of Cincinnati. UC gets excellent reviews. It is 100% online and is 100% asynchronous. A friend of mine graduated from UC FNP and recommended it. If accepted to UC, I will attend that school; if not accepted, I will stick with EKU and figure it out. I will tell you one more thing, the application to UC was more complicated than to other universities I applied to. If you have any further questions, please let me know.

Thank you so much for your message.  I have since discovered that EKU is not accredited in my state of CA, so unfortunately, the program is not an option.  Thanks again!

Did any of you end up going to EKU? Was the admission process easy or hard?  Did you guys have high GPAs?  Im around 3.0 exactly and I'm not sure how picky they are.

@Medicalmusic   Can you tell me where you saw this information? I talked to the rep and she told me they accepted students from California. That was the first question I asked her.

I got accepted into the University of Cincinnati FNP program so I will not be attending EKU. I believe UC accepts California students. UC Online MSN Family Nurse Practitioner | Admissions
