Hi everyone!
House is up for sale here in beautiful IN, applications for transfer of license are in place, and we have picked out locations, just doing house shopping in Blount County.
Question I have, can someone tell me pay scales for the area? I am looking at UT Med Center, Covenant, Baptist? ANy other hospitals/facilities I should consider? I am a new RN, but an experienced LPN, with background in Med/Surg, vents/trachs, corrections, psych, LTC/geriatrics. I am currently starting a new position here in surgical trauma.
Thanks in advance, can't wait to get there! Our goal is by the end of the year.

Hello, I am just entering nursing school, however the last i heard is the pay scale starts around 19+ with differentials. You have experience so it will be better I am sure. I just moved to Maryville about a year ago and love it. Welcome

Having lived in Jackson, TN (West), Knoxville, TN (East) and now Nashville, TN (Middle). East TN by far is the least paying area of the state. Also very flooded with nurses, b/c there are lots of NSG Schools that way.
I would go middle TN if you could.

I've been considering a move to Nashville. A former coworker is now working as CNO at a local hospital.

Can an experienced ER nurse in a level 1 Trauma center expect over $32/hr in Nashville, Vandy perhaps?
I work in the ER Level I at Vandy and of all my jobs in Nashville Vanderbilt is currently the lowest paying. Mainly because of the number of people who want to work there. The highest paying nsg job in Nashville is at St Thomas ER right now, however due to high patient ratios, low staffing, and a mgr who can't find her a** from a hole in the ground it is a hellhole to work at.

Hi there - i just applied for one of the Graduate Nurse Residency positions at Vandy and am waiting to hear about an interview however i was wondering if you had any idea what the starting rate for new RN's is at Vandy. i have seen various numbers on the board here but they have been from the misc past few years and i wasn't sure if any of them actually worked there and would know. also what about any pay for shift differentials, weekends etc.?? thanks in advance for your time!

Knoxville area hospitals start new grads at appox. $18/hr. There are shift diffs for nights and weekends. Approx. $4.00 extra for nights and $3.00 extra for weekends. Staffing in all Knoxville hospitals is horrible. I do not reccomend moving to Knoxville to work in the hospitals to anyone. The smaller surrounding county hospitals pay equal and offer better staffing. St. Mary's is the only hospital offering 8 hour shifts, but that could change with the Baptist merger. All other facilities offer only 12 hour shifts. I am new and am extremely disappointed with the working conditions in this area. There are many nsg schools in this area with thousands of new grads each spring. They all can get jobs but the pay is not so good. On the bright side, the area is beautiful.

I am also curious about the pay around Nashville, I have applied for the residency at Vandy but am not sure if I will be able to afford housing when I get there! I would appreciate any input!
