RN taking prescription benzo's for sleep
As far as holisitic goes, I have tried all the herbal sleep aides. I am in the good habit of getting exercize and eating healthy. I am not overweight nor do I have any other health conditions. I have taken an antidepressant for years for mood swings. I don't drink alcohol very often, definitely not before bed on a work night. I have a supportive husband and an overall healthy life. I am not sure what has brought on the insomnia. It is hard on me and I hate taking the xanax, but for now I need it until I get help. It is either take a xanax or get no sleep. Ambien, lunesta and trazadone have all become useless to me. I have been taking sleep aides on and off again for years. Sleep is a precious thing! Thanks for your compassion. I need the support.

RN taking prescription benzo's for sleep
My doctor has just prescribed me xanax 0.5mg PRN at bedtime. I really don't like taking drugs but I can't sleep at all without it. I have been suffering from the worst case of insomnia, ever. It is ruining my life. It makes me so upset, not to mention exhausted. I finally had an anxiety attack. I felt I had this constant surge of adrenaline flowing through my body. The xanax helps, but I am so afraid of addiction. I have made an appointment with a sleep specialist. I just didn't know if it was even legal for me to be taking this drug at night and then going to work the next morning. I do have a sript but still wasn't sure. Thanks for all the feedback. BTW, is there anyone else out there suffering from insomnia that has found help? Thanks!

Is it legal for a RN to take prescription xanax for help with anxiety and sleep? Will I get in trouble for this?

Fresenius starting pay
I am considering a job as a dialysis nurse. I have been a hospital staff nurse for 14 months. I have tried many different floors and have decided that I don't like working in the hospital due to the enormous demands. I would like feedback from someone experienced with dialyisis nursing. How is it?

Thank you for your valuable insight. I feel as you do about hospital nursing. I love the patients but the workload is devastating. Healthcare is a mess from every aspect of care. I am surprised the doctors manage to heal anyone, but they do. The doctors I have worked with do a pretty amazing job, despite the impossible pressures of their schedule. I have wondered about working for a family practice. You have given me a lot to think about. I really appreciate it. I feel like I have a new direction and I am excited about it!

Help a nurse with 1 yr experience
I need help finding a job in nursing. I have tried working in a hospital for the past 14 months as an RN. I graduated about 15 months ago from nursing school. I have worked in two different hospitals on 3 different units. What do i do next? Any suggestions? I can't work in a hospital setting. I am not good in the staff nurse role. I don't handle the responsibility well. I am getting overwhelmed and fail every time. Where might I go from here? With 14 months experience under my belt and a love of nursing, what do I do?

East TN pay scales?
Knoxville area hospitals start new grads at appox. $18/hr. There are shift diffs for nights and weekends. Approx. $4.00 extra for nights and $3.00 extra for weekends. Staffing in all Knoxville hospitals is horrible. I do not reccomend moving to Knoxville to work in the hospitals to anyone. The smaller surrounding county hospitals pay equal and offer better staffing. St. Mary's is the only hospital offering 8 hour shifts, but that could change with the Baptist merger. All other facilities offer only 12 hour shifts. I am new and am extremely disappointed with the working conditions in this area. There are many nsg schools in this area with thousands of new grads each spring. They all can get jobs but the pay is not so good. On the bright side, the area is beautiful.

What's up with TN ????
I completely agree with Dee78 about avoiding a confrontation. You can't just snap your fingers and get your way. No crime was commited in this case. You should have stayed away from the house if you knew the husband was home and drinking. The cops had to treat the case as if it was a domestic disturbance and you were the intruders. However, there are bad cops in EVERY state and country.
