Easiest and Toughest Classes In UT Arlington RN-BSN Program

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

I am looking to double up on nursing classes while in the RN-BSN program. I realize that it might be wiser to take certain classes alone and not double up. This thread is for everyone enrolled in the RN-BSN program to discuss which classes are the most/least difficult.

I am starting RN-BSN online on August 22nd. I am taking the technical writing and Intro to professional nursing together. I currently work as a clinical supervisor in oncology M-F 9-5....I am hoping this program will be doable. Any advice will be appreciated:)

Has anyone recently been able to use TNCC in place of an upper division elective? I was told today that i"TNCC certificate through Emergency Nurses Association does not meet the qualifications needed to take the place of an upper level nursing elective. It is a provider course which is considered continued education and not at the level needed for a college course." Which I find interesting because isn't everything that UTA provides 'continued education' and what dictates level needed for a college course? Gah! Another round of bait and switch with UTA.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Geriatrics.

I'm in the RN-BSN-MSN program. I'd have to say Vulnerable Populations has been my least favorite class thus far. Very time consuming. I didn't think I would maintain my 4.0 with that class, but I did. Now I'm freaking out about Nursing Research as some of the threads I've read say they pair you in groups and it's very unlikely to receive an A. I only have 7 classes left to get my BSN. Just 7 ...lol.

Hey Shelbs! What other classes have you taken so far? I'm about to start the assessments class and I've heard that one was very time consuming!

Good luck!

Can anyone tell me how the Health Policy and Legal Aspects Course is at UTA? I have Tamara Leigh Eades for an instructor. Wanting to know because I signed up for two classes and didn't realize they pretty much coincide with each other. (have Medical Terminology as well.)

I am just finishing up with my first class and the workload was crazy. Just curious about the HP&LA course and anyone's experience with it and if they took the two together. Thanks for any advice and input!!

Jenn,

The Health Policy and Legal Aspects course is not difficult. Very doable.

Specializes in Emergency Room, Hospice/Palliative Care.

You will not be in a group with Nursing Research, but it is the most difficult class. It is hard to get an A in the class, from what I can tell, but I did it by taking the class alone. And Vulnerable Pop. was indeed the most time consuming, but it was actually one of my more favorite classes. I can so remember seeing my pathway and thinking, I only have 8 more classes to go, lol! You can do it! Good luck, and congrats on taking the next step in your education.

Legacy was not a difficult class for me. I have heard that Medical term. was extremely time consuming. I did not like co-op so much, easy but a lot of journaling that is graded hard.

Quite honestly it may have been more manageable for me because Brit lit was the only gen req I had to take. I was fortunate enough that previous works was transferrable. Professional Nursing and Health Promotions, Holistic health assessment and vulnerable populations I took by themselves. I doubled up on the rest Nursing research with Co-Op nursing work experience, holistic care of older adult and nursing management, and then british literature and capstone.

I have seen other coworkers gone through other programs but I have nothing but great stuff to say about UTA granted their admissions department and advisors maybe difficult to get a hold of at times but their RN to BSN program is on point and is one of the cheaper alternatives compared to other programs for the credibility of the name. Feel free to PM if you have anymore questions :)

I also thought the program was great-the nursing coaches always responded quickly to my questions. Admission and advisors are another story, but once you are in the program you will only be contacting them about updated your degree progress plan and Capstone admission.

All doable doubling up, there wasn't a class that was not doable doubling up, they all require a whole lot of self discipline, compliance, discussions, writing and tests... I doubled on all my classes with no issues and good grades, let me know if any of you need assistance with class schedules!

I've been on this site for all of nursing school but never made an account until today so I can't PM you. I'm staring at UTA in less than two weeks (November 7th). I'm trying to get my BSN ASAP and have doubled up on Technical Writing and Transition into Professional Nursing (the first nursing class).

If I work in a clinic from 8-5 PM the whole week, would it be difficult to double up on these courses? Of course, I'm shooting for A's to get my MSN but is it doable for success? I'm in the AO program, living in CA so there's a time difference. Thanks!

I graduated this past august taking one class at a time. Get comfortable with APA formatting. Discussion posts every week in Italy post by midnight on Wednesday and 2 responses and assignments quizzes exams are usually due by midnight Saturday. I didn't think it was that challenging I worked night shift throughout the program.

I work in a clinic (M-F 0630-1530) and got A's in my courses, even with doubling up. Of course, that was when it was just my husband and I. I had to give up my hobbies for the time being. Now I have a daughter, so I don't think I'd be able to handle it right now.
