Duke University's online FNP program, Fall 2014

Published

Hello fellow nurses!

I was wondering if anyone applied for Duke University's online FNP program, Fall 2014. For those that are currently attending, how long did it take to hear back from admissions?

Also, would you mind sharing info on the program? For example, numbers of hours put in weekly for part-time attendance. I realize this may vary on the particular student, but an idea will be helpful.

Thank you kindly!

I applied for the post-BSN to DNP for Fall 2014 with the FNP specialty. I was supposed to attend a live webinar this past Tuesday but woke up late because I had to work that night and set my alarm for the wrong time but hopefully they will have it recorded. I did, however, catch some of the Q&A session and it sounds like they will be interviewing some time between January and February and sending out decisions around mid-March. Have you also applied for the Fall 2014 FNP? I want to keep my self pre-occupied so I don't think about it, but I also want to be ready for anything, hopefully at least an interview.

Hi! Thank you kindly for the reply! I also wanted to make the webinar, but I had a heavy work load that day. Yes, I applied for Fall 2014, MSN/FNP. Of course, now I cant stop thinking about it!

I think I will follow your lead; no use thinking about it non-stop.

Hoping for that interview!

Good luck to us then! Will be looking forward to the Fall 2014 thread. From what area will you be studying online? I am from Southern California, Los Angeles area.

Hello again, so after attending both webinars for the ABSN/MSN and DNP programs, it seems as though the notification process will occur in two waves. The first wave, around mid-January, will be to notify you of whether you are granted an interview or not. If given an interview, they will occur around late January into mid-February. The second wave, from early- to mid-March, will be decisions about acceptance, denial, or waitlist. Hope this gives you a better idea of what to expect. I am a BSN to DNP applicant so I attended both webinars for more information. Now, I'll let the holidays and maybe a small trip in January keep my mind busy. Then there's work too of course. :)

Hi there! Sorry for the late reply; just saw your comment. I just moved 11 months ago from Florida to Long Beach, CA. Loving it so far! We are so-cal neighbors! If accepted, I plan to study online, probably part-time. Funny, I requested to receive a notice for webinars, but did not. Will try again. Thank you kindly for all the info! Good luck to us both! Cheers!

Why hello neighbor. Did you receive the email on Fall 2014 Application Status? It talked about the next step being the interview process. So early January will determine the interview pool --interview, denies or interview waitlisted. If offered an interview, it will be from 1/21/14 to 1/24/14 either from 8a - 12p or 12p - 4p. During the interview time a campus tour will be provided, an interview with faculty, and presentations on admissions and financial aid. They decided to let us know in advance the time range for interviews so that campus visits could be more likely planned. They want us to make sure that we check our Applicant Self-Service (SISS) to ensure that the email listed is correct because that is how they will notify us of the decision. Now I really hope the holidays keep my mind preoccupied.

Morning!! Yes! I received the email. My heart was pounding! Ha! Looks like just a few more weeks before we get an answer:)

Thanks Jayne for directing me here. I will be sure to stay in the loop.

My pleasure! This is the week!! :)

I've been stalking the threads to see if anyone else had applied. I am SO nervous!!! :D

Hi there! Looks like there are three of us. Same here, cant stop thinking about it. Ha! May I ask, were are you located? Planning to do the campus or online?
