Duke 2015 Nurse Residency Program

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Since a thread hasn't been started for Duke Feb 2015 Residency Applicants, I have decided to start one. Feel free to post away and best wishes!!

I'm also moving from Cali! When's your start date? Have you looked into apartments in Durham?

They wanted me to start April 6th but I need more time than that so I pushed it to April 20th. I need to look to apartments but don't know where to begin! Maybe Craigslist. What about you?

Lucky you! I'm starting on March 23 which is coming up pretty fast. Found several places in Durham and Carey online that I wanna check out when I move over there. Most of places is pretty affordable for a spacious 1br apartment!

CICU are great people!!!

So congrats on everyone's job offers!!!! , I'm guessing you guys had your licenses already and are excited to get to work , super exciting ! Has anyone else heard anything or had any status changes ???? I guess I shouldn't be so anxious since I don't graduate until April but it's killing me lol :nurse:

Well I broke down and called duke regional. The recruiter stated that they have already had their first rounds of interviews and once they get feedback from the nursing managers on wether they want to hire they will update all our statuses. So good or bad news coming soon

Dkol 97 where did you find an apartment ?

Has anyone heard anything for the new grad positions that were posted earlier this month? I'm from out of state and was wondering. Thank you!

Has anyone heard any news about the New Grad position for the Mother Baby Unit? I feel like I have applied forever ago and still no news! Just wanted to see :)

I'm not sure if you still read these, but I noticed that you were planning to accept the offer at Duke. I have been looking for a new grad job since I passed the boards in July and graduated in May 2015. I applied to Duke University a few days ago and just got an email inviting me to interview for the Clinical Nurse I position on the Adult medical unit as well as attend an open house to meet the managers and tour the hospital/unit. They also said I would need to shadow for an hour on another day before the interview. I am very excited, but nervous since I live in MD and it would be a big change for me, not to mention the expense of a hotel and travel to go there for a few days for the interview and shadow day. I'm wondering if I have a good chance since I was asked to interview or if I'm one of many. It looks like a great hospital with great benefits and career opportunities so I was really happy that they're even considering me! I have so many questions about the residency, hospital, nursing program, etc..... Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated! I hope you are doing well there and enjoying your new home!

I just got an email inviting me to and open house and interview for the new grad residency adult medicine unit on November 17. I am also supposed to shadow for an hour on another day. I live in MD so it would require relocating. I was so excited to get the email but have so many questions about the interview process, chances of getting hired, and living situation. I would also love to hear from any nurses that have gone through the residency and whether they like working/living there now. Is anyone else planning to interview there this month? It would be great to talk to others considering the program or are already working there. Thanks!

love Duke!!!!! Went through the residency program myself and it was extremely helpful. I did a shadow interview (not an open house) which SO much more relaxing than a traditional interview. I think that is what helped me get the job. I live quite a bit away (I had a different career before becoming a nurse, so we had already bought a home). there are TONS of things to do in Raleigh and Durham.

I am an older new nurse so I am not sure how much I can help, but I am happy to answer any questions you might have.

Good Luck!!!
