Duke 2014 Nurse Residency Program

Published

Hello everyone,

I decided to start a thread for the Duke University Hospital residency program.

I'm also looking for some advice as well. I'm not 100% sure of the application process, (maybe I'm thinking about other program I've applied to) but I remember being able select our 1st and 2nd choice. I'm pretty sure if this is the case that I selected pediatrics.

Well I just received an email form Duke to interview for the Clinical Transport Team. I'm thrilled to have gotten an interview, but does this mean my application was never forwarded to my choices?

Is anyone else in the same boat?

Hello, I just had an interview last week for the CCU. Has anyone else interviewed for the CCU recently or have one scheduled soon? Unfortunately, I forgot to ask how many openings and other interviews they had lined up.

For those who already interviewed, about how long did it take until some of you received an offer/rejection? Did they email or did they call?

Hello,

I from Northern Ca, and I just got invited to interview at DUKE, I was wondering what is the interview process like, and where is the best place to live. THanks

Hey artsing, I also have an interview at Duke soon. What floor are you interviewing for?

espyn How did your interview go? Any tips?

its for medical step down, I hope we are not going in for the same position, and i have not picked a date yet, but will be there next week.

Nope! Not the same unit, phew! I'm interviewing on the peds bone marrow transplant unit next week.

I interviewed for Medical Step Down yesterday and got offered a job on the spot! Don't worry though, the recruiter and the manager said there were several positions open

Mogget, that is awesome! Congratulations! Any tips for the interview?

Read up on some behavioral interviewing questions, have some stories/experiences to share that may answer some questions (like times when you had a disagreement with a coworker, how you made an unsatisfied person happy.. etc), keep all your answers succinct and make sure they actually answer the question, have questions written down to ask, and let your personality show!

Every RN manager is going to ask different things, but they all want a team player who is excited and interested in the unit, and who will make the time/money spent on training them well worth the effort.

Good luck!!

Hello, I am have a interview for the medical step down too next week. Thanks for the info!!!

Hey newgradRN14, I hope your interview went well. I was told that I will know sometime next week!

Hey artsing, I think my interview went well. I hope yours did too! I was told the same thing. Here's to hoping we both get the jobs!
