2017 Duke New Grad Program

Published

Hey! I just thought I'd make a place where people can ask questions regarding applications, interviews, and new jobs regarding Duke's Summer 2017 New grad Program. I sent my application in for Duke's New Grad Program in January, and still haven't heard anything. Has anyone heard anything different?

Good luck!

Has anyone heard anything from the pediatrics unit yet?

I overheard a recruiter say that there arent many peds positions. I think pediatric bone marrow isn't hiring anyone, and I know PICU has already hired 2 or 3 people. I'm not sure about any of the other units. I haven't hears anything outside of ICN, PBMT, and PICU interviewing yet.

I just heard from the PACU! I got the job!!! I'm so excited to start my career at Duke University Hospital.

Congratulations!! I hope you love the PACU! When are you starting? :)

I've had classmates hear back & get offers in the ICUs and some stepdowns floors.

Hi! I just accepted a job on the new surgical step down unit! Any one else accept a job yet? Also any advice on where to live and find a roommate? Thanks :)

Will you be working on 3200? I think that's the new surgical step-down.

Durham has a lot of great areas to live depending on what you're looking for in the area! Feel free to PM me if you need some ideas? I relocated here from up North about 2.5 years ago, and I can probably give you a decent idea :)

Yes! on 3200, and it won't let me PM yet since I just got this account unfortunately! I have heard a lot of people live Raleigh! Can you post some of your ideas in a reply here! Thank you so much!!!

I know quite a few people live in Cary as well. I am partial to South Durham. I currently live on the border of Chapel Hill but I'm looking to move (unrelated to the area, more the complex I'm in) and I'm fond of this part of Durham. A lot of people talk about the "bad" parts of Durham, but I come from Philadelphia and I honestly haven't seen anything I would consider too bad. I've been told to avoid North Durham, but I've definitely felt unsafer when I was living in West Philadelphia where I did my undergrad. However, Durham is extremely diverse, and there are currently a lot of gentrification projects going on. Downtown Durham will be EXPENSIVE, fyi, if you're looking for more of a city feel.

I accepted a position on a neuro unit and am looking for a roommate!! I'm relocating from the Chicago area. Since we can't PM because we're new, feel free to add me on fb (my name is Liz Ann on there) or instagram lilliz_94

I interviewed on both of them as well, they seemed like very nice units!
