Duke CRNA Class 2023, Applications Oct 2019

I finally have all my ducks in a row (I think lol), and able to apply to my dream school and career. Anxious, but nonetheless very excited for the weeks to come. Wondering if there is anyone else out there submitting to Duke University's CRNA program this year and wanting to connect. I waited a full year in anticipation for their CRNA experience day, and the experience couldn't have been better. It more than confirmed they fit my goals, life and absolute passion for everything that I look for in a school. Especially after visiting many other's who were great schools but just didn't fit me as a person. I am hoping to connect with possible future school mates, and if anything cheer you on if I am only on the sidelines in the end or jump in excitement together.

does anyone remember what was said during your acceptance call? between my inconveniently shoddy phone reception and my immense excitement, all I remember was something about an email the next day or two with further steps.

i see the changes reflected in my self-service center (change in status to “admit”) but haven’t received an email LOL i want to make sure I don’t goof this one up

Did anyone else get waitlisted? I’m on the waitlist and forgot how long it is and how they decide to pull from it if need be

Nope. I got full blown denied. Very generic letter. I’m 100% sure it has to do with the interview. I was underwater and short of breath most of the interview after they picture they wanted explanation for. I don’t do well not being confident with an answer, and being a perfectionist I won’t just give a half assed answer, so I shut down and didn’t know what to say. Which is very frustrating because I knew the answer about 30 mins after I walked out of the room and the adrenaline fog cleared. ? I deserved it. It’s been a while since I was backed into a corner, and atleast now I know where all my deficiencies are.

BIG CONGRATs to those of you who got in, and to those of you who didn’t... don’t let this one application define you. There is plenty of schools, feedback to reapply and lessons to be learned. Hope everyone has a happy holiday!!

I know that we all wanted this and I'm truly sorry that you didn't get in this round. However, the point of these interviews is to fluster us and for them to see how we react. I've been denied admission to 3 schools after interviews since last year. It's part of the process I suppose. If Duke is where you truly want to go, please reapply next year. Brian, one of the senior students that we met Friday did the same thing. He put all of his eggs in the Duke basket and didn't get in his first year. However, he reapplied and got in the second year. If you didn't go this year, I'd highly recommend going to the Nurse Anesthesia day they have on campus. It gives you a chance to have a really in-depth conversation with the faculty in a much more relaxed environment. You also get to go to a skills lab where you practice epidurals, intubation, etc. It was an invaluable experience. You seem like a really great candidate and I know that you will achieve your goal of becoming a CRNA. Have a great holiday and I hope to see you on campus soon!
