Duke ABSN 2012

Hey everyone!

I was wondering if there was anyone out there applying to Duke's ABSN program for the spring or fall class in 2012. I'm going to apply, but can't decide if I should apply for the spring or the fall. If I apply for the Spring class- I will still have 3 prereqs to finish (micro, soc, and stat) which I can finish before the program starts. Is it crazy to apply to Duke with 3 outstanding prereqs? Should I wait until December and apply for Fall 2012 instead? At that time I will be currently taking the last of the prereqs. Any advice would be helpful! Especially if there's anyone who has gotten into Duke with 3 prereqs to go...

snobunny, i wouldn't worry about it too much. i don't know if you went to the august 1st interviews but M. (the admissions lady) said that their decisions were basically already made before the interviews, and the interview would either push you over the top or if you bombed it, maybe have them 2nd guess you. but i wouldn't doubt yourself on the basis of your interview alone! :)

Thanks guys! That really makes me feel a lot better. I know it probably isn't that big of a deal that I couldn't come and that it would be silly of them to hold it against me, but I still worry. The main thing I was worried about is that my interview was so different from the interview in person so I don't know how they evaluated me vs. how they evaluated the people who were there to actually participate in the activity. It is also kind of awkward and you can't really get a total feel for someone when you are having a distance interview (we were having a hard time hearing each other and I could tell that she was really nice, but I couldn't really vibe off that you know?) so I'm really hoping that my personality was able to shine through. Just gonna keep my fingers crossed and try not to think about it too much. Thanks again guys and good luck to everyone!

Hey guys, I am new here too and also did a phone interview. I am wondering what specifics did they give about the program? I am curious if they discussed what daily life would be like. Also, when will decisions be made? Thanks!

K-mad,

We were told that the admissions committee would be meeting at the beginning of next week to make the final decisions and that we should be hearing something by the middle of next week. We will be notified by email about whether we made the first round or not. I believe they said that second round decisions would be made by the end of September. How many people they accept during the second round depends on how many first rounders didn't accept their offer.

is anyone else applying to unc just to see if u get in? it's due tomorrow and extremely hard to concentrate on it after today!
