@Km477 Did you apply to any other schools besides Duke? I am struggling with the fact tuition is $20k a semester, and just wondering if a cheaper public school would be a better/equal option. I am not having much luck with finding possible Scholarships or tuition reimbursement programs outside of the Duke hospital (25k for 3 years of service). Thank you for all your help!

I also applied to Villanova and Vanderbilt. I decided to go to Duke because I already lived 15 minutes away from Duke. Villanova costs about half as much as Duke but I didn't want to move that far. You will hear a lot of people say that nursing school is primarily just to pass the NCLEX. You will learn most of what you need to be a nurse when you get your first nursing job. If you want to go to grad school, then it may be worth it to pay the money to go to a school like Duke. If you want to stop at the BSN, I think it is reasonable to consider going to a less expensive school. NC has a nursing shortage so it shouldn't be too hard to get a job here if you decide to work in NC. I see ECU in your name. ECU honestly has a really good ABSN program that is more affordable and I have met dozens of nurses at Duke who graduated from ECU. I think Duke is a great school but I understand that the cost is a big factor to consider.

Unfortunately, financial aid is hard to come by at Duke in my experience. You may get some loan offers but very few people get scholarships unless you happen to get an outside scholarship. On the other hand, working at Duke Hospital has great benefits including tuition assistance and loan reimbursement. I'm sure they exist, but I don't know of other hospitals that offer those benefits.

Those of you who have payed the deposit and received the email to set up your NetID, have you been able to access your Duke email?

Not for me. It always redirects to the login page. Have you resolved it?

I received the email about setting up my NetID this morning and was able to access my Duke email.

How do you get it? When I go to my Duke website and click the email, it turns to the outlook page. And when I click my email shows on it, it redirects me to the outlook page again.

After I activated my NetID and registered for the multi-factor authentication... I was able to access my duke outlook email by going to the website below.

https://oit.duke.edu/what-we-do/applications/office-365

1. Click access office 365 email

2. It will direct you to your Duke Login

3. Put in your NetID and password (you're probs gonna have to do the multi-factor authentication you had to set up to confirm that it's really you)

4. It will then direct you to your email account

This worked for me so hopefully it works for you!

FYI. My problem is resolved. I turned to the IT service to find that my email mailbox hasn't been created yet.

Can we do a roll call and tell us where you're from?

If you live out of state, have you figure out you're living situation?

Are you planning to work while going to school so you have supplemental income?

Anybody else on here that were accepted and may not attend anymore due to the cost of attendance?

I'm from maryland and duke is about 4ish hours from me. I've joined facebook groups for housing in the triangle and there are a lot of options on there so I'm not extremely worried about that.

I might be tutoring kiddos online on the side but that's def not priority for me, school is.

are you anticipating any amount that the school might give you? that's just what I keep thinking about honestly, I know its not gonna be a lot, but I hope its decentish enough ya know
