Duke ABSN Spring 2015

Published

Anyone else applying to Duke's ABSN program for Spring 2015? As we're approaching the application deadline, I thought it would be great to get a conversation started. If anyone is currently in the program, I would love to hear your thoughts about the program as well.

Hello all. Not sure what has been going on with all of you but I was offered a spot on the 2014 fall cohort starting this Monday. While I do have finances in order to do it I refused the seat as well as took myself off the wait list for spring 2015. Look luck to you all!!!

...I'm am closing the door on nursing for myself. It's just not a passion anymore for me.

Hey, Anixon. I got in mid-week and I start on Monday. I'm thrilled!!!! I'm still pinching myself. Sorry I won't get to meet you at Duke--can tell you've got spunk! :) Anyway, I wish you all the best in your new job and that you absolutely love it.

Good luck vbee! I'm glad you got an early seat too. I was VERY tempted but in the end it's what's better for my family and I.

Vbee and anixon, I'm confused, were you guys both applicants for Fall and Spring and got wait-listed for both? Or did you apply to Spring only and get offered a Fall spot off the Spring wait list? Thanks!

Good question, running05, I was wondering the same thing! Wouldn't they have just used the Fall 2014 cohort waitlist to fill the vacant spots? Are so many people declining their offers (or at this late in the game, maybe chose another program/school) that they're offering vacant spots to waitlisted students of a different cohort?

Vbee,

That is wonderful news! Congratulations, I wish you the very best! You will be awesome!

Only applied for spring and they had openings for fall so they offered us spots for that.

Vbee,

How was your first day? :)

Myischmo--thanks for asking. :) I love it! I hope you love your program, as well. I wish you all the best in life and if you decide you don't care for your BSN program, apply to Duke again. It took me a few application cycles to make it in. It is well-worth the wait, the cost, and the persistence. Take care and have a great weekend.

vbee, I'm glad to hear you're liking it so far and I'm so happy that it all worked out for you to start in the fall cohort. That was a quick turnaround and I imagine many would be inclined to turn down the offer and wait to hear from the spring waitlist. Are you from out of state? And if I may ask, can you give us a general idea what your first semester schedule looks like?

I got in!!! :) Don't give up if you're still on the wait list! Hope to see you all in January! :yeah:

Congrats myischmo! When did they notify you?
