i started using what was left of the tube of lansinoh after my daughter was born and no longer nursing. It worked wonders on chapped hands.

I thought certain ingredients caused the loss of integrity of the gloves, so that was why hospitals use lotions without petrolatum (?) or mineral oil (?). I can't remember which ingredient causes this, but I do know that is why we aren't allowed to bring our own. Our infection control nurse will "confiscate" your lotion, if not hospital-approved.

They'll get my Vaseline when they pry it from my cold, dead, ( and incredibly smooth ) hands!

Frequent moisturizer. I use oil-free such as Neutrogena or glycerin such as Corn Huskers for the day, so they're not as likely to kill the rubber gloves. I use more intensive products such as cocoa/shea butter or oils (I like argan oil) at night.

VANICREAM! Available at Walgreens and CVS! Best stuff ever!

At night, I slather my hands in Aquaphor and put socks over my hands. My husband makes fun of me, but I don't care. I also love L'Occitane hand cream.

I LOVE putting on L'Occitane hand cream before I go to bed, especially the lavender scent :)

Thanks for this post, I was about to post a new thread but searched instead. I'm thinking about sneaking in some lotion to the hospital. Same thing with our infection control: we are not allowed our own lotions and must use the hospital lotion (which nobody has ever seen or located...) Does anyone know of a lotion that I can use that won't compromise vinyl stretch gloves or counteract the hospital grade GOJO Purell foam? Thanks again!
