do you drink coffee during your shift?

Kind of a silly question, but I've been wondering for some time now. :shy: do you have enough time, is there a rule preventing it, do you try to limit fluid intake because you don't have enough time to go to the bathroom?

I honestly cannot function without my coke. And I am not a nice person without it. In clinical, I drink a full coke before getting there, then I have one stashed in the break room to drink throughout the day. I always have a second to pee if I need to or grab a quick drink. I have never had to hold my pee. It's not good for the kidneys to do so. But I don't take a 20 minute break either. I can pee and grab a quick drink of coke in under 5 minutes. Drawing it out to 10-15 minutes is where the issues start.

Lol it's not good for you're kidneys to hold you're pee in...

Guzzles down 2 cokes a day.

Yup! I usually drank (drunk) coffee at work. Except when I worked a regular full time 10a-6 p. coffee stopped working for me. Switched to diet monster.

I'll tell you, I had to change it up every so often. Too much coffee would mess up my intestines.

I rotated between coffee, green tea, water, diet red bull, water, etc over the last few yrs I've worked as a Cna and later, Lvn while working varied shifts- mostly PMs, some days and quite a few nocs.

Also did diet mio/diet crystal light energy drinks.

(Back in my prereqs I used to drink diet Arizona green tea!)

I'm all about energy drinks!! Any variety!!

I used to brag that I had a bladder of steel. After 4 pregnancies, it is now more like a bladder of tin foil (and the cheapy store brand stuff at that!)

So I would not work somewhere where I couldn't take regular bathroom breaks.

And I love coffee. I drink a large mug at the beginning of my shift. I would love to drink more, but it would hinder my sleep the next day, so I stick to the one.
