Speaking of scopes...may I digress just a tad? Has anyone here ever used those acoustically amplified scopes? Was wondering how they work in real life...
I'm also in the market for buying a stethoscope and have been considering the DRG stethoscopes. I haven't been able to find any information though on whether or not the titanium changes the quality of acoustics. It's at least an extra $50-$70 for the 40% weight difference. I'm also not sure if this ENR technology is really all that noticabley better. Does anyone know of a website that explains the different qualities of stethoscopes explaining the bell, tunable diaphragms, different metals used for tubing, pediatric/infant/adult size and quality specs, etc.? If I'm going to spend that much money I'd like to know what I'm shopping for...
I'm trying to decide between the DRG and the Ultrascope myself... need some input on how the two compare. Anyone tried both and what are your opinions?
We don't use our own where I work. Each baby has it's own and each moms room has her own. It's an infection control issue. I just clean the ear tips before using.
I am also very interested in finding an awesome quality steth. Its actually a late grad present that I haven't yet collected on. I have my eye on the philips electronic steth on ebay ($150), also every once in a while I'll catch a littman 2000 or 4000 (much dinero). Very interested to hear some feedback on these , or any really good one. One negative comment that I have heard is that electronic stethos amp. so much that it is difficult to hear what your trying to hear. Like your listening for heart sounds and all you can make out are breath sounds. That would annoy the heck out of me!!!!
Currently I am using littman lightweight, which doesn't impress me. Oh, also heard good things about littman master cardiology.
By the way, how much is soooo expensive? Since I'm a new grad (and need all the help I can yet!) and it will be a gift, was wondering how much is too much? I'm thinking no more than $200. I looked at the DRGs (doctores research group?) and they were under $200. I can deal with that, but I really want to get an electronic one! If anyone can give me feedback I sure would appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
