Drexel University PMHNP 2019

Published

I didn’t see this topic in a thread search, so I decided to create a thread. Is anyone applying to Drexel University’s Psychiatric Mental Health NP Program for the Fall 2019 semester? I just submitted my completed application last week. Also, if current students or applicants want to chime in, please feel to comment.

Specializes in Cardiac.

I haven’t.

Maybe it’s too early in the application process and that’s why people haven’t commented yet? Technically, the application deadline for the PMHNP program is June 1. However, it was suggested to me, by an enrollment counselor at Drexel, to submit my application before February 1. I did that just that!

For ACE BSN program, do students have clinical rotations on weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) for all 4 weekends in a month OR is it a combination of week days and only 1 or 2 weekend, please share insights, thanks!

I never attended Drexel University for undergraduate, so I cannot help you with your concerns. If I may offer a suggestion, there are existing threads about Drexel's ACE BSN program that you may want to explore. Here is a link to one:

Good luck.

I'm in my first year of the Pediatric Dual Primary and Acute Care NP program at Drexel. All NP students take the same courses for the first year so I can at least give you a review of that. I have been very happy with the program thus far! I was extremely nervous about online learning since I have been out of school for 13 years. Drexel's online platform is very well set up. So far my professors have been great and their rubrics have been very detailed as to exactly what they expect of your work in their class. They provide adequate resources for the materials and in my experience have graded exactly how they said they would in their rubrics. I found out I was accepted in May and had plenty of time to get all my FAFSA paperwork done before the fall quarter started. They run 4 10 week quarters instead of 2-3 semesters a year. Several of their quarters only have 1 class, which if you need financial aid, you need to take an elective to meet requirements, or your program advisor can rearrange your schedule, which I did and now I get this summer off woohoo!!! Most programs create a facebook group, which is a great way to get to know your classmates and support each other through the program.

Are you currently a psych RN? I am considering applying but do not have a full year of psych experience, although I have been nursing for almost 4 years. Thank you.

Hello. I have 8 months of in-patient Psych experience and almost two years of correctional nursing. I’m working in correctional nursing now.

Thank you for replying. Did you notice that your cohort had an average of over five years of nursing experience or was it a mixture between new grads and experienced nurses? Thanks again.

Thank you for your response ! Are you working as just a correctional nurse right now or doing both ?

Have you heard a response yet?

I just finished my application, perhaps we will be in the program together !

I am currently working In another department and have less than a year of psych experience previously so I am worried about that. I am currently interviewing for psych positions.

Hey all!!

I didn't apply to the PMHNP program but I did for FNP for Fall 2019! Has anyone heard anything regarding interviews or an admission decision?! I could not find a thread for FNP, and starting one no one has posted! Does anyone know anything about the FNP program?? Thanks!
