Drexel University ACE Spring 2010

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello all,

I just received a letter from saying that my application for the ACE program is now complete and I'm waiting for a response. I was wondering if anyone else here is applying for the same program and received an acceptance letter already?:uhoh3: I'm trying to be patient but I wish I knew how long it will take...

Orientation is all day, from 8am until 4 or 5pm.

acrawl, thanks for your response to my question. however, as i mentioned it my original post - i see where the letter mentions that we need cpr certification. aimpsu510 - i am not positive, but i think the answer to your question is that it needs to be up-to-date so that it does not expire during the course of the program. i know you can call and they will connect you with a person in the compliance office who can answer specifics. i apologize if i am missing something obvious, but could someone point me in the right direction as to where it indicates the requirement specifics for first aid certification? i clearly read where cpr certification is required and the two different class options that we have ... but are you guys using "cpr certification" and "first aid certification" interchangeably? do we need to take two different classes? thanks so much for the clarification! i do not have a medical background so i wasn't sure if these certifications were one in the same or different. :)

Hi-

I'm also confused with the CPR/First Aid- I just got certified for the CPR using the AHA- BLS training- and I have already sent in my "certificate" to American Databank- do we need to get first aid training too? I didn't see that anywhere on the compliance letter that we received.

lhtanyu, thanks for the reply! I have not been able to find any documentation from , either in the letter I received regarding requirements or on Drexel's compliance website, stating we need First Aid certification. The only place that I saw mention of First Aid certification was in this forum and I just wanted someone to verify and/or clarify what they meant by it.... if that makes any sense?? I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything ....

Contact this person: I emailed her but it took a week to get back to me, so I'd call because the clock is ticking down

She's in charge of making sure our clinical paperwork is all together. I personally did my First Aid & CPR with American Red Cross in November to get on top of the game. Though, now everyone is saying that American Red Cross is only good for one year, therefore I'll have to take it again in November or I'll have to repay to take the 2 year.

Does anyone know anything about when our deadline is for payment? I'm really confused and can't find information. I've emailed Tina and she replied with some links where I still can't find the information I need.

hi CocoBelly,

I have not paid anything other than my deposit. I am not too concerned about it because I am assuming I will get a letter (aka a BILL!) when requires it. I would have to agree though that it is a bit odd that there has been very little reference to or mention of tuition up until this point. Sorry, I know that is not much of a help but at this point I'm not too worried about it ... when Drexel wants the money I'm sure we'll all be notified. :)

I know, but my parents are leaving the country for a few weeks in february/march, and I'm concerned that the deadline may be when they are away and I may miss it. (Since I definitely don't have the money).

I completely understand! My guess is we'll find out about it closer to our start date/orientation. I'm surprised that no one at was able to help. Perhaps someone from a previous ACE class will know more. Good luck!!

Billing info should be on your DrexelOne account, but if you're unsure about something, give the school a call (remember to check with the Center City campus, instead of the University City main campus). You may already have this, but here's a link, the phone number is at the top of the page:

The need for First Aid certification certainly may have changed, or been rolled into one since previous classes took them, so follow what your instructions say. We had to send all of our compliance forms in by mail, not via a website, so it looks like there have been some (hopefully good) updates to the system.

Have fun with those bills, you may want to have a drink before you read them :)

blueeyes26,sorry for the confusion. Yes, I was using the terms interchangeably and the options for classes are AHA's BLS for Healthcare Providers and Red Cross's CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer;first aid skills are just implemented into these two programs therefore you do not need to take an individualized First Aid course. If you do either of these you should be fine. If you are in the Philly area I found an AHA Healthcare Provider BLS - $75

401 Lombard St, Philadelphia, PA. The web address to register is www.enjoycpr.com. I plan to register after I search around a bit more to see if there is anything cheaper out there. If anyone else comes across anything else please let me know. Thanks and I hope this helps.

acrawl, thanks for getting back to me - good to know that there is only one certification class we have to take! :) I took the AHA BLS for Healthcare Professionals earlier this month so hopefully I am all set. Thanks again for the clarification!
