hey xlford, thanks for the PDA info... is there any need to have that interact with my personal computer.. or using the lab computers adequate for that?

thanks!

Um...I would say no, there is no NEED to interact with your personal computer, but it may be nice to have some of the skyscape books on your computer as well as PDA...but it is not necessary. Lab computers are suffice for just about everything as far as I can see.

I'm not orginally from Phila, but moved here a year ago, since you just graduated from ACE, can you tell me what the avg -starting- salary is for BSN graduates? Since I don't know other nurses here, I searched the internet and the ranges seem very broad..

Does pay depend on what area of the hopsital one works in..? PS I've applied to 4 prgms for fall 2009. Thanx!

dime curves, in your acceptance packet didn't you receive a form to wave the TOEFL exam... if you went to school in US it should not be required....

I called Drexel and I have been trying to get the TOEFL exam waived but I was finally told by the admissions personnel that though I attended college and high school in US, I will still be required to take the TOEFL because I didn't complete full 4years of high school here and I wasn't born here.

I am so upset because they never called me to inform me about my status. They said they didn't call because it is my responsibility to forward or request my TOEFL scores to them. And that they have refused to reveiw my file for Fall of 2009 admissions until I complete the TOEFL exam.

I told her, if they could still review my file while I take the exam but she said NO but I should take the exam quikly because they are still reviewing applicants for the Fall 09 entrance and they still have open seats.

I SINCERELY DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE!!! Tooo much reading for my classes and now I have to prepare for the TOEFL (I heard its hard)

That sucks dime! I don't know anything about the TOEFL, but I took the GREs with no preparation and didn't do well, so I imagine TOEFL isn't something you'd want to take cold.

Were you looking at other schools besides Drexel? Would it be worth waiting to apply for the Spring 2010 class so that you have time to prepare for the TOEFL? Is it something you can retake if you get a low score? If you can, it might be worth just giving it a shot to see how you do.

I think that every either being living in the US since (at least) 7th grade, or getting a TOEFL score is required for all nursing programs. I have no idea if it is hard, but it is probably something you'll have to take. I'd schedule a test, study for your classes, then take the test as soon as possible. It is still possible to get in, but you'll need to take care of it quickly. Also, the Spring '10 may be easier to get accepted in, since there are fewer applicants. Regardless, I think most (if not all) schools will require the TOEFL.

I'm trying to find the 'graduation date for the ACE program that starts on 31MAR09'.

Perhaps current spring students can help me relate the last day of class or finals to the date of your graduation.

Thanks!

From the Academic calendars, the program looks like it starts on march 30th not 31st). I could be wrong. The final day of exams should be March 26th, 2010, I think.

That's where I got my info from.

Loner - that is what I understood to... I'm wondering if after the last day of finals there is any other time commitment required or that is it -

any thoughts? I'd assume that is it..but you never know ;)

TOFEL wasn't hard as much as tedious. It's the fact I had to do it that annoyed me to no end....the score didn't matter for me. I was done in half of the alloted time. I was just annoyed that I was told I had to prove that I can speak/read/write English after already earning a BA.

To answer Just_Cause's question. The week after FINAL's week is for making up any missed clinical time. Like for Fall 2008, class ended on Dec 13th, but there are students who missed clinicals and had to spend the week after making up that time at various hospitals. Now, I am not sure when comprehensive HESI is...the final one that is...so you may have to factor that in. If any former graduates would shed some light, it'd be great.

The Final HESI is during finals week on Friday. However if you do not pass they allow you to take it again 2 weeks later. PM me for more info. I just graduated from the program.
