Drexel ACE Program March 2009

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Just trying to communicate and hopefully get in touch with a few of you. This is a very intense program sure you all know and I'm looking for people who would like to form a study group or at least get to know one another before the start of school.

Is anyone planning on working?

Hope to hear from you!

I've found places usually from the local newspapers. The Philadelphia Weekly has been good, and the Citypaper. Actually, I think CityPaper better than PW. But, the philly.com site doesn't seem to have the same listings. =(

i actually just signed a lease at the windsor hotel. it is an actual hotel, but they also rent out unfurnished studios and one bedrooms....it is a little pricey, but very convenient, safe and nice. it is within walking distance of hahnemann. its located at the block of ben franklin parkway, arch and 16th i rented a studio with a balcony, utilities and parking (24/7 valet) and it is 1500 a month including all of that. it makes me sick to think that i am paying that much but like i said i feel safe there, convenient location and you have all the amenities of a hotel (valet parking, gym, pool, etc) if you need anymore info about it let me know....the lady said there are actually a lot of med/nursing students that rent there...

i found craigslist to be helpful but really liked the location of this play (my goal was to be within walking distance of the hospital)

hi everyone

i am also going to in march very exciting. i was wondering if anyone else from the king of prussia area is going to be taking the train to down town. also does anyone know about the gym member ship we get with this program? also has anyone found out what our normal day will be like what time we start and get done? i know they will go over this on the 23rd but it would be nice to know now. one last thing i know it's only 11 months but do we get any time off? thanks hope to see everyone soon.

I live in Bryn Mawr. It's about 7 miles from King of Prussia. I currently work at CHOP and take the 100 trolley to 69th st, then take the El. I plan on taking that route to school when it starts. The 100 route does go close to KoP, between Villanova and Bridgeport/Norristown. About 5 blocks from the Gulph Mills (i think) station, there is a Sweat gym that just opened. There is also a Sweat gym at 15th and Arch or something. I plan on keeping that membership (through GlobalFit, which you get through Aetna insurance and other ways). I don't know where the 's gym(s) are. I go to the King of Prussia gym on Sundays, and the "Filter Square" gym (24th and Walnut) during the week, but I'll be going to the downtown gym (with a small pool!) once school starts.

I don't know if that's helpful or not, but it's what I do. Also from King of Prussia are the 124 and 125 busses. They stop at the KoP mall, and they go all the way to 30th St Station in Philly. You can take the El for a stop (or sneak on the Regional Rail as they won't check for tickets between 30th st and 16th st).

The 100 line will cost a fare plus a zone fee ($0.50). I get a transfer (since I don't use transpasses) for another $0.75. If you're going to be taking the trains more than 4 days/week, you'll save by getting a transpass.

I really talk too much!

Thank you that helps alot I live in Bridgeport and can get on the train there. As for the gym do we get the member ship with the program from ?

I don't know about a gym membership but I have heard that our classes will be Monday-Friday 8am to 4pm with an hour for Lunch for the first quarter.

For sweat, I have a membership through Global Fit. It is like a discount membership rate offered by my employer and Aetna (which I think offers). Drexel probably has their own gym and stuff, but Sweat works better for me.

now i heard we have two days of class and then two days of clinical then friday is a study day this came from someone that went to the thing about the program that they offer. well thanks for the information i guess we will just have to wait and see.

The gym membership is for the Sweat near Hahnemann, but it's only good at that particular location.

First quarter classes are M-F 8-4ish. One day a week will include the Assessment lab in addition to your lectures. You'll only end up having lecture 4 days a week, because one day is your Prinicples clinical/lab (you alternate...one week in lab, next week at the clinical site, etc).

Definitely no study days (well, every day is a study day, but no, they don't allot you any extra time). 2nd quarter, you have all of your lectures on Monday & Tuesday, then clinical 3 other days a week. It is true that you may have a weekday off, but that means you were assigned a Saturday clinical (and no, there are no Saturday clinicals 1st quarter, don't worry).

I'm kind of sleep deprived right now, so I hope that made sense. :)

Hi!

I look forward to seeing all you future nurses next month!!!

If you are in need of housing, I live in W. Phila and two rooms in the house will become available in the next few weeks. I also drive and school is about 10 mins away so we can always pool.. Oh, I have a cat too :paw:

I'm on the quiet side and dont care for DRAMA-at all. If you're interested let me know! Race isnt an issue as I've lived with people from several countries. Just be clean, drama free, quiet or at least some what, respectful and responsible and all should be well.

I believe in Yahweh as He's first and foremost in my life so if thats not your thing, or you resent or harbor negative thoughts about Christians, then this probably is not the right fit for you.

Take care and Good luck!

You will get a free membership to Sweat which is two blocks from . It is a nice little gym. You won't have much time to use it unless you live near school.

Crap.. free to the downtown sweat. I pay like $40 for all the sweats (and I go to the one "near" me in King of Prussia).. I'm kinda afraid to lose my rate, though, since my boyfriend pays $55 for the same plan. But, I like going to the gym with him. =/
