Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey, guys its a bit early but wanted to open a chat so we could all talk about the Fall 2021 ACE program (11 months) at University! Feel free to share stats, questions, concerns, and more!

I just graduated from this program in September. Lmk if anyone has any more questions!

Hi! I just recently found this thread as I'm planning to apply for the ACE program in 2021 (good luck to every one else applying!!) I'm curious to know what y'all thought of the program (or think of the program so far) and how your experience has been! How are clinicals and how are professors? Do you think the program prepares you well for your nursing career? And any insight or an overall review of the program will be much appreciated!! If I attend , I'll be coming from out of state, so I'm trying to get all the information I can get before I make the huge commitment to move! Thank you in advance!

Hi all! I plan on applying for fall 2021 before the priority deadline (in 2 weeks, yikes) just putting some final touches on my resume. I'm just concerned about my GPA and experience as I do not have much experience within the healthcare field.

As far as healthcare(ish) experience/volunteer hours that I do have, here they are:

got emt-b certification but due to acl reconstruction had to push off employment and then ZERO local agencies were hiring new EMT's

medical reserve corps member of my local county

Other volunteer: americorps program tutoring in Memphis, TN for a whole school year (currently doing this)

Undergrad degree is Biochemistry with a minor in math and I finished with exactly a 3.0 GPA and was also a student-athlete all 4 years

A&P I: B

A&P II: A-

Stats: A-

Chem: B

Nutrition: Lecture A- and Lab A

Micro: B-

English: not sure if the one I have counts

Dev Psych: currently taking

Hey, how was your schedule like when you attended the program? Also, for scrub. How many do you think should be purchase? Is scrub only use for clinical and lab?  thank you so much!

The schedule was different Q1 (classes all week) since we had no clinical. Q2 to Q4 we had class Tue/Thurs from 8-5 and then clinical two or three other days of the week. I would personally get 3 scrubs if you can afford it, I had two and wish I had one more because you'll always need to wash them after each clinical. No one wore scrubs to class because our clinical were different days.

I also moved from out of state and honestly I really enjoyed the program! Just like any other program, if you put in the effort to learn and talk to your professors you'll have a great experience. There were times when it felt like things were super last minute/disorganized (COVID announcements) but looking back I think they did the best that they could. Most of my clinical professors were great and really pushed us out of our comfort zones. I learned a tremendous amount and would definitely recommend the program to others.

Does anyone know when we should start hearing about admission decisions? I submitted my application on 9/26, and based on the thread from last fall, the first acceptances were released around the 10/15 priority deadline.

I also submitted about a week earlier than that, and I believe that I heard the same thing  about the wait time!

What was the course load like? Do you think that the material was hard to grasp or too much to grasp. What was the hardest semester / part of getting through the program !

Hello! I just applied to the ACE program a few days ago for fall 2021 admission. I am taking Microbiology and A&P this semester. I have already taken A&P but am retaking it because I got a C the first time around and I want an A. I will still need to take developmental psych in the Spring. With that being said, can you not get an acceptance until all of your prereqs are completed? Do I need to wait until I finish the psych course in May before I know if I will be accepted or not? I didn't see a place on the application to list when I am taking the prereqs I have not completed, so I am not sure how they will know. Thanks for any info!

Hello! You can still apply with missing pre-reqs as long as (I think) three of the four sciences are finished. So you probably wouldn't hear until after you're done with this semester, but psych shouldn't be an issue! A little further into the application process there'll be a form you have to fill out that lets them know when you have or are planning to take remaining pre-reqs.

Has anyone heard anything from yet? The wait is killing me! I was looking at the Fall 2019 cohort forum and it looks like most students heard back about their admission on Oct 16.

I was literally thinking the same thing! I've checked everyday for a month and still nothing !
