Drexel ACE(Fall 2006)

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Just wondering if anyone else is applying for this term. I thought their deadline was Dec.15 but it's actually Oct.15. Good thing I called...I was planning on waiting for this semester grades to boost my gpa up before sending out my transcript. But oh well....no choice but to send it in tommorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed. They told me it only took 6 weeks after their deadline to send decision letters out. That's pretty quick.

Thanks mack! Craiglist.com is great. Thanks again.

Alright guys--- Here is the deal on the living situation. Craigslist is the best site by far to find a place to live but you won't be able to find anything this early on for a place with a lease that starts in september. You might want to start looking sometime around the summer if you want to find something nice. I have lived in every area of philadelphia possible. I have lived in North Philly ( by temple), Art Museum Area, Center City, and now I live in Manayunk. My two favorite areas to live have been art museum, and center city, but they are the most expensive by far. Studios/1 Bedrooms in CC cost anywhere from 600-1200 per month depending on how nice a place and how key of a location. If you want to walk to hahnemann every day to avoid the traffic--(which is my plan because I think the classes are really early) you are going to want to live on Race/Vine/ Arch or anywhere in center city. Art Museum area is also pretty close to the hospital and it is a really nice and safe area. My dad wants me to live in the dorms because I can just add that up with my student loans because I am not sure how easy it is to get loans for rentals. My current friends/roomates want to sign another lease with me next year but I know with this hectic schedule I will not be able to live in a house with people not in the program. If I live in the dorms (which look ok) I am definitely going to want to live with someone else who is doing the program(If anyone is looking to share something to cut down on the price?). I think 's housing is like 8,000 for the year which seems ok I guess-- but I would be willing to find a place nearby as well??? I hope this helps anyone unfamiliarwith the area-but like I said before I would be glad to help anyone from out of state out in seeing the city and deciding where to live.... Let me know!!

Hey, I was thinking of doing the MSN thing, but I was told by a prof who has her MD to go with UMDNJ. Something about they don't require a test, that a lot of other places do...She said to start looking into it about 6 mths into our program at .

Hey Guys,

Can I say time has really flew since I got my acceptance letter back in November of last year. Yesterday I found an apartment and put a deposit down. I'll be calling Mt.Airy home for the next year. I am extremely excited....I love my place and cant wait to experience all 4 seasons.

So what have everyone been doing this past summer? I just got back to the states from Canada which was very relaxing and I cant wait to move into my place and start decorating and experience a new city.

Charley where are you? Devon? others? Are you guys still going to ?

We should plan a meet up for drinks or some food(would like to eat a philly cheesesteak)...maybe closer to the comencement of school? Maybe a week b4 classes start? I'm just throwing out a suggestion. Later..:)

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to get into 's ACE program for Spring 07, and was wondering what it took (GPA, etc) for you successful candidates to make it. I'm an MBA/CPA looking to change careers into nursing, and I have a 3.3 overall gpa, 3.6 in the sciences, and all I'm missing for Drexel's pre-reqs are a second English Comp class, and Ethics. This may sound childish, but I would really appreciate any kind of opinion from you guys on my chances of getting in.

I'm also a CNA, and I want so much to be a nurse. But the schools here in California are mostly lottery admission with preference given to local residents, and I've become so discouraged at ever making it.

There, that's my vent/plea. Hope to hear from you.

Thanks,

Ryan
