Hi all,
I recently had posted about my concerns regarding an upcoming manager position interview (later this week). and
I do appreciate everyone who replied. In the mean time I applied - just this morning-- for what I really want to do
which is work with oncology patients in an out patient setting. I've never done this sort of work before though
have tons of experience with IV infusions because of my many years in critical care (ED, ICU) so I am pretty confident
that I'll be able to learn about chemotherapy.
Well because of the wonders of the internet I've already got an interview scheduled for tomorrow morning with the manager!
I did inform them in my letter that I was in FNP school, but that I intended on continuing to work during school,
and that my long term goals of working with oncology patients as a FNP.
I'm pretty comfortable with invasive lines - central lines, PICCs, port-a-caths, also pretty good at starting ivs, drawing blood and very confident with my abilities to provide general care.
Since this has happened so quickly I am a little nervous (I'm usually pretty cool under pressure ), and wondering what to expect since I've never done this sort of work before. So to anyone who does or has done infusion therapy (specifically with oncology patients) could you give me some tips of what to expect? Also what sort of things do you think they might be interested in during the interview?
Wow I was so surprised, and very pleased that they've contacted me. Now I want to get the job.
