Douglas College Psychiatric Nursing fall 2017

Published

Hey just wondering how many people have applied or were planning on applying to the first intake of the newly structured psych nursing program at Douglas for fall 2017?

I finished pre Reqs with 3.4 gpa winter 2017.

I got an email saying I am being considered for fall 2017, granted I attend the info session!

Anyone else going to May 16 info session?

I know right now that the program is full, but they do foresee quiet a few people dropping because of other offers. Seems a lot of people just used the psychiatric nursing program as a back up instead of genuinely wanting to get into mental health & addictions nursing. One of my pet peeves, but what can you do. Anyways one of my friends was shortlisted and was told she would hear back sometime in May, so definitely go to info session. They won't give you a seat unless you have gone to the info session. Good Luck and hope you get a seat!

Thank you dcarter 94 for the insight!

I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I have received a conditional acceptance today for Winter 2018.

Interesting enough though, regarding the email for consideration for this fall.... Once I attend the info session, do you think I would still be in the running for Fall 2017 if someone dropped out... even though I've accepted an offer for Winter 2018??

Thanks yall

If you applied to Fall 2017 then yes you will be on the waitlist. So if a spot opens up and you are the next in line for a seat you will be offered a seat

What made everyone choose psych nursing?

Is anyone else confused about the online modules we have to do ahead of time? I never tried to log on to the old website and now i recently got an email that it has changed to a new website... I made an account but when I follow the instructions and search 'enter Student Practice Education Core

Orientation' it just comes up with a list of 500 courses, none match 'Student Practice Education Core Orientation: VCH, PHC, FHA, PHSA,

VIHA, IH (SPECO)”

perhaps these instructions are out of date from the old website?

then there is the list of the 14 classes to complete (plus the ones they have since emailed to us) do they all need to be searched seperately? I dont know why i am having so much trouble with this lol

in there email that was sent they attached new instructions:

Thank you so much I'll try again!

Also I just completed the blackboard orientation and I did everything but I was really confused about the messaging part, where it said something like "mickey mouse" of the organization... I kept checking the recipient list assuming they had added a fake account called mickey mouse but I couldn't find one? Was it some sort of slang term for the head of the program? I didnt want to bother any of them in case I was wrong lol

No you are just supposed to messages one of our classmates and if someone messages you, you are supposed to reply back

edit: you can always message me, my username is VERY close to my actual name!

Oh OK I just messaged the one person I know in the program...what was with that mickey mouse reference then lol
