Don't Get Thrown Under the Bus

No matter how much you show up early, work late, and do your best to be a, "team player", some permanent party nurses are going to be envious of the fact that you live out of a suitcase, have no recognizable social life, and can't think about having children without the possibility of "home schooling" them ON THE ROAD. They will THROW YOU UNDER THE BUS just to get rid of you because you're cute, and they have this crazy idea that you make "ScAAdds" more dinero than they do. Ignore the fact that you're there because they are SEVERELY understaffed and taking critical patients so they can eat lunch. When the gossipy, drama queen/kings bend the ear of management, and management actually pays heed to the nonsense, it's time to move on. You can take your next assignment knowing you gave all you had to a thankless, staff-starved trauma center in the heart of the city of your birth.

Wow, sounds like you're venting. Sorry you had a bad experience, try another place and try to not be so cute, people hate that.

In my travels I have found that you meet the same people and personalities over and over again.

I think I am pretty astute about who could be trouble and who is a mature and confident professional. Avoid troublemakers, they are pretty easy to spot.

Though I have had a couple of assignments like yours, knowing that it's temporary makes it tolerable.

That and knowing that I will not be extending, and that something far better is just a month or so away, whereas the not so nice coworkers are stuck there with undertaffing and each other and their weak management. That is one of the big perks of being a travel nurse. No politics and no drama.

If someone made a false accusation about me, and the management believed it, I would request a meeting with management officials and that employee. If your agency doesn't back you, there are about 500 others you can do business with.

Please rate this hospital on travelnursing central.com, after you are gone, of course. Some of the reviews are hilarious. I have rated a few and it's fun! Some day you will look back and realize it was just a learning experience. And do some serious introspection about how you can make sure it doesn't happen on your next assignment.

Nothing ****** me off more than cute, childless women who make more money than I do.

Keep your chin up. You never know what kind of toxic environment you're heading off to. A lot of miserable places attract miserable people and they stay forever in misery. So let them at it and go on your merry way!

LOL! Women who "know" they are cute are extra annoying.

I've never had a travel assignment but I know I've always appreciated travel nurses and had huge respect for them. They have the guts to go to a new place, new hospital w/o knowing what they might find. Wish I had that kind of confidence! Just ignore them. They are probably a little insecure b/c the know they can't do what you do...either due to abilities or life circumstances.
